A Retrospective, which was an official compilation release, Kosh even did the artwork. For Country Lovers, I myself don’t call that an official Ronstadt compilation. Kosh did the artwork for A Retrospective? That artwork was just horrible. One of the worst album jacket artwork I've ever seen. Even worse than some artwork for some of Elvis's albums. And I groused about big time about RCA's artwork on his albums, especially the back covers. And Capitol was doing up some shoddy Beatle covers around this time, so it just wasn't Linda. Love Songs and Rock & Roll Music by the Beatles were in the What is Capitol thinking mode? Trying to destroy the Beatles? However, the discs for the Beatles' reissues had specialty labels whereas Linda's reissue featured Capitol's yucky purple label with silver lettering. A Retrospective could've been done right with special photo labels tying a photo of Linda with when a majority of the tracks were recorded for each side. And maybe someone could've done a essay on Linda as an artist and how her career trajectory began with those recordings and took Linda to where she was at the time when the album was released. Course, Linda's reissue didn't cost as much as the reissues for the Beatles and you could get a copy in the stores for five dollars while the reissues for the Beatles were slightly higher but also cost you higher, despite the fact there was nothing new to be heard on their reissues either.

"Different Drum", which I should have remembered, is all Capitol songs. There is, as I'm realizing/remembering, 2 covers for "For Country Lovers". The one I have framed is the white cover with a copy of a painting of Linda with a SW backdrop. If I am correct, the other is a photo as discussed above where Linda is in a white dress. I didn't like the outside pkg of "A Retrospective" but the interior jacket sleeves and interior gatefold was not bad. eddiejinnj
