Michael Eric Dyson was promoting his new book, "Entertaining Race: Performing Blackness in America," and he stated that "Beyonce' is the greatest entertainer the globe has ever seen."
I beg to differ, but here is how Dyson defends that ...
Stephen Colbert brought up Diana Ross and Sammy Davis Jr. and band members brought up Duke Ellington, Prince, Michael Jackson, etc.
Colbert does say in the video segment above that this is controversial, and I think because Dyson's book is about "blackness," only black performers' names were mentioned.
My own personal definition of greatest entertainer is someone who not only gives a great live performance, but is someone who entertained on stage, in movies, television, recordings, and could sing and act.
What about Elvis Presley? Frank Sinatra? Judy Garland? Barbra Streisand? Fred Astaire? Bette Midler?
