'Jeopardy!' Executive Producer Mike Richards pulled a Dick Cheney. He looked to replace the late, great Alex Trebek, and then took the job himself. The naming of Mayim Bialik to host a few primetime specials is mere window-dressing and a publicity move. But there are more important things in this world to worry about -- ‘Jeopardy!’ Announces Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik as New Hosts

If it weren't for this man's incendiary remarks, the very choice of him would still count as a form of nepotism, in my opinion.
And in either case, someone else really needs to be considered.

So Mike Richards is out. And I am surprised. I wonder who will get the job now. I hope it's not Levar Burton. His over-exuberance left me drained each episode.
I surprisingly liked Buzzy Cohen best but I don't know how most viewers feel about him. Joe Buck I had never seen before because I don't watch sports networks but he was okay, especially considering all the rudeness directed toward him. I could like Mayim Bialik as host but I think she has too many irons in the fire already and doesn't want to burn her ass. And I find no fault with Ken Jennings.

There was a story I saw yesterday on Mayam Blalik. Now, some are calling for her to step down because she said some things about not wearing a mask or something. Richards, I can understand but Blalik? People want others hosting the show, such as Levar Burton. I felt the new Jeopardy host should be someone in their 30s or early 40s, someone who is going to be around for a while. I like Levar but he's nearly the same age I am. And it probably wouldn't be too long before Sony was having to look for someone new again. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anyone who would really make a good game show host. So, I think there will be a revolving door of hosts for Jeopardy and ultimately, the show will be killed off, which would be too bad.

I believe at one point Mayim Bialik was AGAINST the COVID vaccine and promoted anti-vax theories, but then she got vaccinated. But people might think she could have done some damage. And then, according to what I read, she wrote an Op-Ed piece in The New York Times where she said something like she wasn't sexually harassed because she wasn't "typically attractive or pretty," which was viewed in some circles as "blaming people for being pretty." I think others have taken issues with her promoting that Prevagen supplement to boost cognition, but that doesn't bother me. I liked Mayim Bialik as a host. I think after Alex Trebek hosting for 37 years, it will be difficult to find someone who will please everybody. It amazes me how many people on Twitter think that people who watch "Jeopardy!" are idiots and babies for even caring about this. Someone online said that "Jeopardy!" is for some people (nerds like myself) what football games/sports are to people who care about such things. Of course, there are people who follow both. But I have friends with whom I discuss "Jeopardy!" Also, I was not very big on LeVar Burton in his stint as a guest host and I am sure I will be called out for having "white male privilege" for saying so. However, I liked Robin Roberts. And Katie Couric. My own personal opinion is that Alex wanted Ken Jennings (Trebek called Jennings two days before he passed away) to host as well as CNN's Laura Coates. I also liked CNBC's David Faber. For now, "Jeopardy!" will have a series of guest hosts again. I can't see how Mike Richards can continue to be Executive Producer of "Jeopardy!" if the comments were so horrible that he is out as host. My fear is he will still try to rig the process. And a lot of the staff at "Jeopardy!" are said to have low morale due to Richards, and many people who worked or formerly worked with Richards at "The Price Is Right" are coming forward to say how he berated people. Also, Richards cherry-picked which episodes of guest hosts were shown to Sony executives to make himself look better. I probably think about this too much but I'm old and have been watching "Jeopardy!" since the Art Fleming/Don Pardo days in the 1960s!

Quote by rick:
Something else to consider is that Trebek already had ten years of TV game show hosting experience under his belt prior to his being tapped to follow Art Fleming in the Jeopardy host slot (Fleming had hosted from 1964-1975 and then again from 1978-1979). I don't envy the task of the people behind the show in trying to find someone who could "step into" Trebek's shoes (which is, in my opinion, impossible); but a little bit of vetting on their part would certainly make the process easier (IMHO).

I probably think about this too much but I'm old and have been watching "Jeopardy!" since the Art Fleming/Don Pardo days in the 1960s! I'm with you on all of this; I have watched Jeopardy since the 60s and watched Art Fleming in the 60s and 70s. It used to be I could answer about 95% of the answers shown on TV but I never tried out for the show as I worried I either wouldn't be fast enough to get in or I would freeze up and forget the question. Incidentally, I had a friend who appeared on Jeopardy in the 70s. He won $750 and I think the newspaper said he was the champ. I think the original version offered parting gifts to the second and last place losers. Winning $750 was a bit on the low side, I think. My friend also tried his luck as an actor, doing more stage than screen but he was in an episode of "ChiPS" but had no dialogue. It's his only credit on IMDB. I wouldn't that advertised. One TV show and no lines wasn't the kind of credit that would make Hollywood studios beat a path to your door.
