Johnny Crawford, one of the Mouseketeers and Mark McCain on The Rifleman died April 29th at age 75 from Alzheimer's. He died in his sleep from the illness he had been diagnosed with the illness in 2019. Former child actor Paul Peterson set up a Go Fund Me account to help Crawford and his family cover some of the medical bills associated with the illness. That was a sad reminder that not all the Hollywood celebrities are wealthy. Crawford's age on The Rifleman series ranged from 12 to 17. It's difficult to think of Johnny as having left us at 75. The Rifleman was a well produced series, and Johnny will live on through the reruns of the series. Rest in peace, Johnny. www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/story/johnny-crawford-young-star-of-the-rifleman-dies-at-75/ar-BB1gd2Ek

I was surprised to see Johnny had had five Top 40 singles. Not bad for someone in the early 60s to have. He did a couple of songs on "The Rifleman" and I'm sure that was done to promote his singing career. But, watching the performances today, those songs made me cringe. Made me wonder if he got a choice as to what songs he would record or if he was told, "You'll sing this!"
It was also mentioned when "The Rifleman" star Chuck Connors died in 1992, it was Johnny who had delivered the eulogy. Johnny remebered his TV dad as being a second dad to him and recalled being took on camping trips with Connors and his son. Sadly, as Johnny was affected by Alzheimer's, he could not recall having spent time with Connors and his family.
It would be nice if they could find cures for the neurological illnesses, the kind of which ended Johnny's life and Glen Campbell's life. It'll be a sad reminder that if and when they ever do find a cure, it will have been too late to have helped those who suffered from the illnesses and died from them.
