I have heard of movies being shot in Durango. My Dad (God rest his soul) loved westerns. I am reading a Debbie Macomber novel, "The Sooner the Better". This one is a departure she says as it is in the mystery genre. Without giving things away in case anybody wants to read it, much of the novel is set in Mexico (El Mirador and other towns) and the Gulf. Welcome, guests, to the forum. It's easy to join!! Peace!! eddiejinnj

I'd avoid like hell spending more than a few seconds on Fox "So-Called News" or Breitbart if you value your blood pressure not going through the roof.
We know what the truth of the matter is: Linda said what she said, and believes what she believes, based on her life experience; and if the "snowflakes" on those right-wing websites don't like it, well then, that's their f***ing problem. It should only motivate us as fans that much more to see this film whatever way we can.

Opinions are like a-holes; everybody has one. With the internet, anybody can find billions of opinions including ones they agree with and ones they don't. Life is perception. For me, this forum provides me validation as a Ronstadt fan. I have mentioned in the past, I was given a hard time in school and personally being a Ronstadt fan. She was NOT cool in my town at the Shore and I was part of a big HS class. My focus is the commonalities such fandom can provide. Peaceful Fandom!!! eddiejinnj

I saw where it says that Shout was going to distribute to various platforms (in this case platforms is venue/s?). What the final outcome of where it is going to be shown, I don't know. Wasn't there talk about TV picking it up too? Just looked at first link of this thread and it had Amazon icon. I clicked on it and the dvd is 9.99. There is one long review so far. We got to get , Erik to do one (I will do one as well). Will look more into it but think I'm going to order it if it is available now. eddiejinnj

I bought it on Amazon Prime and watched, just under one hour long. It is sweet, a rare show of emotion from Linda watching a young woman sing. The girl mentions Linda before she sings, not sure if she is related as my espanol not quite there. As the girl sang, they kept cutting to Linda as she mouthed the words and was teary eyed, shouted a "Brava" at the end and explained to Jackson the song meaning.

I saw it on Apple TV + and it is only available there as streaming, but no physical DVD or Bluray. I just checked Amazon, and it is only available there as either streaming in HD or streaming in Standard-Definition, no DVD and no Bluray.

Here is another marketing opportunity that has appears to have been missed.
2020 Linda Ronstadt and the Mocking Birds (Documentary).
This is (was) a golden opportunity to issue :
• a box set with all of Linda's Spanish recordings including the 3 Spanish albums + the live Canciones De Mi Padre concert + miscellaneous Spanish Recordings not previously released included in an official collection.
• A coffee table book on Linda (chronicling aspects of her career showing photos of her in mariachi concerts showing wide variety of outfits she featured over the years).
This is one part of Linda's career that she is proud of. However, it is sad that this is also the part of her career that is largely unknown outside of her dedicated fans.
We all know the variety of images from the early half of her career and Pirates of Penzance and Trio. Yet her mariachi period has never been coordinated into a cohesive collection. I believe many events have been photographed over the years but nobody has undertaken a coffee table book.

So is anybody going to buy the video? I have to go into Amazon today and look it over. Thanks, Erik, for latest article. eddiejinnj I've bought the movie twice but I have yet to be able to view it. I bought it from apple tv but I could not get it to open on my computer. All I got was one still frame. So I bought it from amazon and downloaded it. Sent me to a link to install a player, which I did. It showed my purchases, including two previous videos I purchased, but this one never showed up, so I cancelled the purchase. I'm not technically illiterate, so I don't know why they are making this so hard to view. I am beginning to lose enthusiasm for this movie. I suppose I will wait until this shows up on Netflix or HBO Max or maybe I will have to resort to downloading it from an illicit site. At least videos you download over the open internet are viewable.

Great important film. Easy purchase from Amazon for me. Rhino often seems disconnected from all the Linda attention of the past few years ( two documentaries, honors galore - Kennedy Center, Hispanic Heritage honors) that is frustrating. Loved the Live set. Really don't think Linda has pros managing her legacy product. Still she seems to receive a great deal of attention and love.

Quote by Guest:
The problem is (and God, people should know that I hate to criticize Linda for anything, especially after her Progressive Supranuclear Palsy diagnosis) that I think she, more than anyone, is, for whatever reason, missing out on the attention and love she gets; and in this case, when it comes to something as close to her heart as her Mexican heritage, it is, in my honest opinion, an egregious mistake. This documentary needs to be seen, for the very reasons that Linda has managed to be politically active since her last concert eleven years ago. Since it can't get a theatrical release because of COVID-19 crowd restrictions, it should get a DVD release, and fast, particularly with any kinds of extras.
In the meantime, folks:

Welcome, guest, to the forum!! I believe it was GC who looked up how well Linda was doing on some quote sites sales-wise recently. How are you, GC? Does anybody know if any of her albums are on the quote charts now? eddiejinnj

I had a little bit of problem with Amazon Prime also. It refused to play after I bought it. Gave some kind of error code-7031 I think. The advice given by the Amazon alleged help was-"restart your browser" which was obviously not helpful. I turned out, since I was connected thru company wi-fi, that apparently cultural stuff is filtered out. All I had to do was connect thru the wi-fi built into my phone and it is playing as I speak. I hope everyone that bought thru Amazon can get it to play.

One thing I do not like is when Linda takes pot shots at other artists. The remarks about Jim Morrison were a low point in her documentary. And then some smart-ass remark about Bruce Springsteen in a recent interview, which was uncalled for. And now her opinion on Elvis Presley. And I think the interviewer did get his info wrong when he tried to clarify Linda's answer. Adios (by Jorge Anaya) ? Adios! (by Jimmy Webb) !!!!
