Legendary writer and journalist Pete Hamill has passed away at the age of 85, following a fall that fractured his hip, and having his heart and kidneys fail on him during hospitalization:

Sad news about Pete Hamill. He was the quintessential New Yorker and an excellent writer. I frequently saw him with Linda when she was in Pirates of Penzance.

I'm so sorry Linda for this loss.....did not know they were close...heard his interviews over the years with Terry Gross a few days back....RIP Pete! so many folks pass when they suffer a fall like that......stay steady and get a cane if in question!!!
