Do we really need another Twitter account for Linda Ronstadt? Well, I started one anyway. Ronstadt! twitter accountThe main reason I started the account is because so often I see incorrect information about Linda Ronstadt or outright lies. So my intent is to correct misinformation. Yesterday I saw a post saying that Linda Ronstadt endorsed George McGovern. I believe that to be false. Besides, at that time, Linda was not famous enough that her endorsement would have mattered. A search of newspapers revealed no endorsements, no concerts. Since this is a new account, I have zero followers. If you are on twitter, please consider following the account.

Hi, Tony —
I think it’s a great idea. I clicked on the link you provided and it took me to general Twitter, not the account. I then did a search for Ronstadt! and nothing. Do you have any posts there yet ? Re: McGovern, there was a concert for McGovern that was 4/4 McGovern that featured Quincy Jones, Carole King, James Taylor and Barbra Streisand (her portion became the album “Live at The Forum”) It’s likely knowing Linda’s beliefs that she supported McGovern, but I don’t recall any public statements.

The alternative was Nixon so she probably did vote for McGovern. Then again, that was the first presidential election I could vote and I voted for Nixon lol.
To get an idea what it was like for Linda and politics in those days read this in-depth article from Rolling Stone. It may surprise some Linda fans as she has a lot to say throughout the article and is quite hesitant about endorsements. It is unlikely she would have endorsed anyone in 1972 as she was finding her political water wings. After my political debacle I started paying attention to Linda's personal political views, much like I did her music. Now we are both rabid.Rock Meets Politics in 1976 The new political gospel according to the Eagles, the Allmans, Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne By JOE KLEIN & DAVE MARSH www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/rock-meets-politics-in-1976-57158/
