Thank you so much for posting, Rick. I am going to listen to it when the other half wakes up. I saw 1/11/20 and I swear am so busy I thought "Oh, that's coming up and it was last night." I can remember way back but forgot the date, lol!!! eddiejinnj
PS: I did watch vid but it wasn't a long vid. She looks good but is hard to understand the audio is a little muffled but certainly better than nothing. Thanks again, Rick!!!!

Hard to tell, but that’s Maria Muldaur of “Midnight At The Oasis” fame introducing her.

The audio and video should be better when the ceremony is televised on PBS next week. Looks like Linda was in good company:

She seems to say that she can’t see very well anymore which doesn’t sound too good ....

Wow. She looks gorgeous. There are some other shots of Linda arriving with Boylan online and she's glowing. Maybe it's me that is aglow.

She looks younger now than she did in photos from over 10 years ago. I hope I look that good if I make it to 73.

I watched the video and took several listens, but it is indeed difficult to tell if Linda is saying her eyesight isn't as good as it used to be, or if she is talking about someone else' eyesight. It also looks as though she has lost quite a bit of weight, which is good for her diabetes. I'd have to look it up again, but I believe her vision is one of the things at risk from the progressive supranuclear palsy she has. My heart and soul breaks for her. I also believe her public appearances from here on out will be few and far between as her illness continues to worsen, and I agree with you whole heartedly any appearances should be well documented and well appreciated.

I am sorry you can’t hear the audio well. I listened to it on my iPhone and heard it pretty well. Yes, Linda mentions that she has problems, but that she lost so many friends to AIDS and to drug overdoses, so she is grateful to be the age that she is now. I found it to be not a “poor poor pitiful me” speech but one about how grateful she is to be alive now.

I had to turn the sound on really loud on my laptop but I got the gist of what she was saying. Linda would never feel sorry for herself. She's grateful and gracious and really puts things in their proper perspective about aging.

yeah...she said she was getting into her hair stylist chair and was commenting to him about how she couldn't see as well...and he said to her about basically staying in gratitude that she made it to older age....cuz so many others had passed...and she said based on that she thought it was appropo or something like that to "accept" the AARP award!!! Great intro about her "generation" and where she's at now...hopefully the sight commentary is general as with aging and not from her palsy/diabetes complications

Vision is a funny thing. It's not always an age thing. Neither of my parents ever wore glasses, not even into their old age. Myself and my two siblings all wear glasses, though my younger sister doesn't need hers as much. Also, my late older sister wore glasses. But, I'm with you in hoping Linda's vision doesn't have anything to do with her illnesses.

This is so sad to hear. Linda has been traveling a lot lately and I'm sure it's a tremendous hardship. I didn't know that Alan Alda has Parkinson's, but his character on Ray Donovan has that condition. Hopefully, more research will lead to better prevention and treatment options.

I can only imagine the physical toll all of the traveling and interviews over the last twelve months have taken on Linda are; but hopefully that has been alleviated at least somewhat by her knowing how much she is appreciated by her fans and her peers.
Re. Alan Alda: I think he was diagnosed with Parkinson's last year or the year before, but if he is able to integrate that aspect into his Ray Donovan character, maybe it will focus further attention on that disease, or on the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy that Linda herself has officially been diagnosed with. Besides his TV roles on Ray Donovan and, of course, the unforgettable M*A*S*H, Alda was also quite good in the role of the head of the NYC law firm that Tom Hanks' character of James Donovan works for in the 2015 Steven Spielberg Cold War drama BRIDGE OF SPIES.
I'll look for his AARP ceremony on our PBS stations here in L.A. on Sunday.

During The Earth Wind & Fire Tribute at Kennedy Center Honors, the camera panned to Linda's section, she was standing up and clapping. I kept thinking, poor Linda, it must be tiresome and painful for her..

My greatest fear for Linda's health right now is her taking a bad fall, breaking a hip and developing pneumonia or getting some infection prevalent in hospitals. Pneumonia is one of the greatest risks to those with her malady. She shouldn't be taking any more risks. It might be time for one of her kids to "step in and step up" for her in these types of ceremonies. Either that or have her do a "video" acceptance. Buying time may help with new health discoveries.

Goddess Bless Maria....I think she still sings up in the Bay area all the time
sure hope Linda is getting some pain relief with all the wonderfull CBD products out there, I'm living with the last of my family....first time since I was about 16-17 years of age and they have a benign brain tumour from a horrible fall years ago....they had a pacemaker installed a year ago and the dr. accidentally collapsed their LUNG!! inflammation caused that tumour to cause a grand mal seizure....we've successfully been able to keep inflamation down with liquid turmeric and at times CBD oil under the tongue from a little spray pump bottle
THERE are so many healthfull alternatives out there.....Linda should in no way be in any pain for any period of time at all

WOW, Maria M. has 40 albums out. Impressive. I really don't know her music beyond MATO and her backup vocals for Linda. eddiejinnj Thanks for correcting me. I knew that. Was in morning fog lol!!!!

I think the confusion between Wendy and Maria re. Linda comes from the fact that a track on Maria's 1974 album Waitress In The Donut Shop, "Gringo En Mexico", was written by Wendy and features Linda on backing vocals.
