Ok, so those are some of the most insightful articles I have read. Some of it was difficult to read for any empathetic fan. I loved the story of how the cub scout uniform happened. Funny and sad moments but that has been Linda's life. Many people are just born too sensitive but in her case it served her well. Not all are that fortunate.

And that article was followed less than a week later with another Linda Ronstadt article/review: Los Angeles Times, September 22, 1977

I attended three nights of that run in 1977.

I would have loved to see the "Simple Dreams" tour. I was a little young. I probably had the money from babysitting but transportation was issue. As soon as I was old enough, I sure as s**t went to Rutgers 1980. The rest is history. eddiejinnj

Those shows were definitely a big deal here in L.A. in late 1977. To have twelve straight shows in one venue, all of them sell-outs, and at a venue that was basically her home turf for many decades was a huge deal for Linda. These were clearly high watermarks in her career (IMHO).

My first Ronstadt concert was of this tour at the University of Iowa, where I was a student. She wore the Cub Scout uniform -- and just slew me.

I am collecting these Robert Hilburn articles about Linda Ronstadt in one place. So far, I have scanned the LA Times through 1977, and here is what I have so far: link: Linda Ronstadt as seen through the eyes of Robert HilburnThis project looks like it may take quite a while. When I finish, should I do the same thing for the writings of Dave Marsh?

Hey Tony--this is just great, thank you. I've never read these Hilburn articles before.

Loved both of these articles. Learned a lot more about Linda during this time and made me love her all the more. These articles would be great if they were gathered for a book which could be a companion piece for the movie on Linda. Still, one would need the permissions of the authors or copyright holders to include in such a book.

Hilburn hhas certainly followed and taken. Linda seriously. How about John Rockwell and Stephen Holden. Both wrote of Linda extensively. Stop obsessing over Springsteen's Cabana boy...

There are only 24 hours in the day, and maybe 2 of them that I can devote to this website. Since I've started, I want to finish up reading and collecting the Hilburn pieces. I don't have access to a New York Times archive without going to the university, and most of John Rockwell's writings would be in that paper. I do, however, have his overlong magnum opus piece on Living in the USA on the website.

I have also noticed that most of the articles in your Linda Website interviews section were reformatted to be more presentable and easier to read. I am sure that takes a lot of time and effort to do. Generally speaking people might be more inclined to read them that way than to read scanned original articles.
