$889,879 Domestic total through 9/12/19. Doesn't even include the opening weekend from the wider release on Friday 13th! Of course I'm hoping it will be so much more that they will do an even broader release next week--INCLUDING LUBBOCK, TX! Home of Buddy Holly, of whom she recorded many songs...you know? This site is updated regularly, days after the fact of course.

Wow, that's very good. I think, Erik, said that if it is a million that's very good for a doc and like 3 -4 like a blockbuster to paraphrase. WTG, movie guys!!!!!! eddiejinj

It wasn't me who said that if it did a million dollars, it would be a success; that may have been Rick. Nevertheless, given that it's in just 220, as opposed to, say 2200, theaters at the moment, yes, $1 million would be a big deal. If it goes into even wider release and makes at least five to seven million dollars over a weekend, then it's an even bigger deal (IMHO).

I may be wrong but I think the $889,879 total revenue for the documentary includes "estimated" weekend grosses. And actual figures will be released on Monday.

Yea, it must have been an "estimated" figure that they posted Friday, tho that wasn't indicated.
Wider-opening weekend figures are in, and the total is $841,613 so far. Still, those Fri/Sat/Sun numbers are each 6 figure!
*still have hope*

Boise is the capital of Idaho. They name things after places of origin etc. Just like the Rutgers tomato from my alma mater. I am really excited about the popularity of the movie. Eddiejinfl

How does that work? When attendance and sales go down they pull it or is there a set time they go with beforehand?

I found this information on the web regarding decision factors for showing a particular movie:
The main factor is selling power. As long as the theater can sell tickets they will show a movie. The question is can they sell enough tickets to make a profit, and reserve the space. If another movie would preform better, they will switch them out.

Linda's story is a compelling story and a breath of fresh air in light of what is going on in today's world. The movie may be benefiting from the chaos going on around us. Hope the movie lasts but not the chaos.

Quote by ronstadtfanaz:
Of course, I think it's naïve to think the chaos will end anytime soon; but yes, I think THE SOUND OF MY VOICE will endure.
Now I know it won't be very long before we start talking about what kinds of awards the film is going to get. I know we'll eventually speculate about it winning an Oscar for Best Documentary (though I think it will be up against some fairly strong competition in that category). But the Grammy Awards themselves have a nominating category for Best Music Film; and it's likely that THE SOUND OF MY VOICE will be in the running there (IMHO).

Won't someone in Linda's camp need to submit the film for consideration? Will they bother?
