I saw a new upcoming CD listed- Lush Live by Linda Ronstadt. I thought it might be a misprint. It's not a misprint. It is a live performance from the Lush Life era. Unfortunately, it's not a Rhino release, it's from some company called Left Field Media, so apparently an unauthorized release. There's not even a cover photo available yet. Here is a link: Lush LiveI don't see the title listed on Amazon yet. In somewhat unrelated news, a new Kristin Chenoweth CD is imminent. Among the songs on the new album are It Doesn't Matter Anymore I Will Always Love You When I Fall in Love Crazy Will You Love Me Tomorrow Desperado That's half of a Ronstadt tribute CD.

This record sounds like the place and time of the HBO What’s New concert. If the actual high quality recording from HBO it would be a major find....sounds like a rip off.

Anyway, I heard the new Kristin Chenoweth CD. In the past, she did a country album, but in my opinion was unable to mold her voice into that of a country singer. On this new album, she attempts to be a pop singer, and I think she did a good job of getting rid of the Broadway personality and giving us a more relaxed voice. Here is an excerpt from an interview about the new album. Linda Ronstadt is discussed, but the interviewer brought the name up first. I saw her on the Kelly Clarkson talkshow and she mentioned several influences but not Linda.

I heard her interviewed on NPR last week and when it came to mentioning influences she never mentioned Linda. Frankly I never heard of her but that doesn't mean anything as I have been out of pop culture for a long time. Her interviewer seemed smitten. Is she a very popular singer?

Dood! You need to get a TV. She used to have her own TV show but I never saw it. I liked her a lot on that show where she was a waitress at the Pie Hole.
As a singer, I doubt she is that well-known, except on Broadway. She sings from her hoohaa if I recall correctly. But she is a Tony and Emmy winning actress.

Tony, The series she won an Emmy for was called “Pushing Daisies.” I saw her on Broadway in “Wicked” — she was Glinda in the original cast. Have some of her albums. She doesn’t bowl me over but I can appreciate what she does. I just don’t feel a strong emotional connection to her singing.

That looks like the What's New HBO program with the encore number Desperado left off, or a recording of the officially released video which also had Desperado excised.
