Linda always had this habit (though she may not have been aware of it) of blurring the lines between rock and country from the start, and she was definitely doing it here, with an album that had contemporary material mixed in with a number of established C&W classics.
I went with her cover of Neil Young's After The Gold Rush track "Birds", because it does establish the heartfelt country-rock ballad style that would become one of her many trademark approaches.
