Not only this but here at the Linda Ronstadt Fans Discussion Forum there was an increase of viewers from its usual 4-500 to well over 1800 in a 24 hour period. I imagine even higher numbers on the Linda Ronstadt "unofficial" website that hosts the forum. It is wonderful to see the interest people have in Linda decades after her last hit song. So many artists, especially female singers have stood on her shoulders to get where they are today and I dare say they don't even know or appreciate it. Well, maybe they do. I am still waiting for the Linda Ronstadt movie to start production. Movie producers are missing a great life story. Why do they have to concentrate on "tragic" stories when there is the story of a talented girl from a fine southwestern family that made such an impact culturally without being a drug addict but rather an inspiration for normalcy and caring? Our country and this world NEEDS more examples of what fame and fortune should really be about. And her secular life lived was a life well lived.

It'll be really interesting to see how well Live in Hollywood charts on the Billboard 200 this week. Duets charted at 32 in 2014 and that was her highest charting album since Cry like a rainstorm in 1989. If sales hold up, it could break the top 20 or even top 10. Some older albums like Greatest hits, Trio and Canciones could re-enter the charts too.

Quote by ronstadtfanaz re. Linda's influence on other female singers:
To be fair, both Trisha Yearwood and Martina McBride have gone out of their way to not only talk about Linda's influence on them, but have also placed money where their voices are and frequently done Linda's songs in their own shows. Tift Merritt also waxed rhapsodically about Linda in an interview just two years ago while also promoting her album Stitch Of The World (whose track "Heartache Is An Uphill Climb" has Linda's influence on it). Alice Wallace, an Americana singer from here in Southern California (her new album, just out, is Into The Blue), names "Long Long Time" as one of her all-time favorites that she has done in her own shares. Clearly the influence is there, but it's the media, obsessed with Cardi B, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and tons of other overcooked pop, R&B, and country diva hams, that's missing the boat here (IMHO).

Quote by ronstadtfanaz re. Linda's influence on other female singers: Erik, Well-said, as usual. There’s no shame any more for people like Ariana Grande going into a bakery/doughnut shop and LICKING the pastries and then PUTTING THEM BACK IN THE CASE SO someone else can eat her germs. And she gets praise and gets to sing at Aretha’s funeral. Why can’t someone, the media, The Public, someone, leave these miscreants out in the cold. That’s how someone like the orange one gets in because no one cares if someone brags about grabbing ‘em by the $&%#. When I see Linda on CBS’ Sunday Morning I admire her so. I don’t admire these pop or rap divas today. Unfortunately too many kids today would rather emulate Cardi B. or Ariana Less Than.

Quote by rick:
The unfortunate truth about the media in general, and the entertainment part of it in particular, is that stunts like Ariana Grande's doughnut-licking "incident" sell, and being a mere "presence" doesn't, at least not the way it did when Linda was at her apex of popularity.. Seeing Linda on CBS Sunday Morning, while I couldn't help but notice that age and Parkinson's had taken their toll on her (remembering how, for decades, she always looked younger than she was, while always displaying a maturity beyond her years), was very good because she still displayed the same keen intelligence that us fans and her many peers in the music industry have always known her for.
I would also say that it helped Linda that this interview aired on the morning of the Super Bowl, which was on CBS itself; and it's likely that it boosted the sales, physical, online, and downloads, of Live In Hollywood. But what was probably the most revelatory thing about that interview was the footage from Linda's appearance at the Ace Theatre last fall, how Linda just halted her exit for a moment to take in the applause of the audience, and how CBS's Tracy Smith remarked that Linda wasn't ready to say goodbye. That to me seemed so true. She still has some more stuff to impart on all of us before the end comes (IMHO).
