A version of "Heartache" found in Jackson Browne's vaults is now available on Valerie Carter -The Lost Tapes. It could almost be considered a duet.

Is it the same version as found on Valerie Carter's 1977 album "JUST A STONE'S THROW AWAY"? Wasn't it written by Lowell George, and didn't he and Linda sing it on their Maryland radio appearance?

It is different from the album with Linda much more prominent. Yes to your questions. There is another song on the album discovered at Jacksons and I'm aware of a Bob Dylan song found in Jackson's studio. Makes you wonder what other things could be found there.

Here is Valerie sans Linda on After The Goldrush (not a Lost Tapes song):

I listened to both the album version and The Lost Tapes version (both are on YouTube) a few hours ago. It sounds like The Lost Tapes version is the "master" with a track containing Linda singing harmony vocals for the entire song (matching Valerie word-for-word). When they cut the version for the album (which was under Valerie's name), they just used Linda's vocals for the chorus and added some strings. I didn't do an overlay with both playing at the same time, but both versions sound remarkably similar in many of the passages, except that Linda's vocals don't appear on the non-chorus parts on the album version. There is also a live version of the song with Valerie and Little Feat on YouTube where we learn of Ivanhoe(?) from Valerie.

The makers of a television movie about John F. Kennedy Jr. and of a documentary about celebrity paparazzi have removed scenes referring to an alleged incident between Jackson Browne and his former girlfriend, actress Daryl Hannah.
Fox Television Studios, producer of "America's Prince: The JFK Jr. Story," has agreed to remove two scenes in the film that make reference to Browne and the alleged assault on Hannah, who dated Kennedy after her relationship with Browne ended.
"I never assaulted Daryl Hannah, and this fact was confirmed by the investigation conducted at the time by the Santa Monica Police Department," Browne says in a statement. "I am gratified that Fox has agreed to take these steps."
Days after the movie's initial January airing on the cable channel TBS Superstation, Browne demanded the network not rebroadcast the film.
Additionally, the Gurin Company will remove a scene that refers to the allegation from "When Cameras Cross the Line," which originally aired on VH1. "Jackson is appreciative that the producers moved so quickly to correct the program and to apologize to Jackson," Browne's manager Donald Miller says in a separate statement.
A written apology has been added to the beginning of the program. It states: "In a previous version of this program, we incorrectly reported an alleged incident involving singer Jackson Browne and actress Daryl Hannah. Mr. Browne has always denied that such an incident occurred, and local authorities have reported to the media that based upon their investigation, the incident previously reported in our program did not occur. We have deleted that material from our program, and we apologize to Mr. Browne for its inclusion."

Nice version of Heartache... thank you! Little Feat are my favourite band (the Lowell era) and I have collected so much over the years and still finding rarities... I never really rated Heartache as a great Lowell song, I got the feeling he could dash off Heartaches at will but thankfully chose not to...I'd love to have heard Linda record 20 Million Things or Find A River from the same era..in fact, definitely Find A River, the more I think about it...but there again we could all list so many songs we wish Linda had tackled...

1) Unlike you "STFU about Jackson Browne", I wont' post my reply anonymously. 2) Congrats on "Successfully" moving a media conglomerate to "amend" their reporting to comply with what I believe to be an illegal Non Disclosure Agreement 3) My understanding of the situation according to Daryls' Uncle, himself a powerful public figure; onstagemagazine.com/jackson-browne-backstory-sky-blue-black/Her uncle says he saw injuries, and photgraphed them, in a frickin hospital and we all know about victims not pressing charges, if Wexler recants, I'll recant my confession of feeling "uncomfortable" i.e I did not "allege" as a "fact", me thinks ya'll a bit touchy. Just because there is an "investigation" doesn't define facts. If someone didn't participate in the investigation, there is no investigation. Investigations are matters of gray, not black and white fact, there are myriad of degrees of looking into something or an allegation. And of course the allegation is gray itself, all i did was say I felt uncomfortable, i.e. that I personally have a propensity to believe the woman, or her uncle. Don't fault me for that and dont tout your "media" "win", I have a right to say what I feel uncomfortable about and until Uncle Wexler recants, you are still giving me the creeps just for posting that "STFU" which for me personally, is assaultive in a forum. Oh! Uncle Henry died........well since his statement was 1) Reported in a major U.S. publication to my understanding "US Magazine" and INCLUDED a supposed "Reply" by Jackson I guess at minimum we could establish that Jackson did "reply" ie. acknowledge Uncle Henrys "statement" 2) Therefore based on what I see so far , Uncle Henry made the "Statement" 3) I find no "recanting" of said Uncle Henry "statement" 4) Uncle Henry was a profound and notable "social" "documentarian" per Wiki and numerous press links cited therein 5) I believe Uncle Henry made a statement that he did not recant en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haskell_Wexler

Probably not the best thread to bring up Daryl Hannah. Most people are not aware of her battle with autism which my gut tells me had everything to do with that situation. I will leave it at that. I hope she and Neil Young find happiness together. Valerie and Jackson were also close from what I know. I wonder if Jackson may have some lost Jann Arden tapes? Jann is one of my all time favorite singers and they worked together a lot. Angels and peace to all.

I AGREE ...."probably not the best thread' ...i.e. why "scour" happy talk about Mamacitah Linda with negative talk about a violent, or alleged violent incident by a apparent significant fellow musician...I apologize for that! In fact, I did not know the degree of close relationship between Linda and he...and for bringing the idea up, I apologize.....that said I quote specifically, so as to bring focus; ".....bring up Daryl Hannah.....battle with autism.....everything to do with that situation" ....uhhhh....all due respect...a very respected activist documentary filmmaker, went on a record with a major United States publication that he FILMED/photographed injuries as represented by his relative, not a blood relative, but a relation, and asserted relations with both alleged "parties" to the act.... .....and you speak of autism? violence on a body is never acceptable,,,,period Probably not the best thread to bring up Daryl Hannah.
