Yes, that part about LAST TANGO IN PARIS....I don't know that that's even fit for human consumption. I know he was a great filmmaker and all of that, but did he really have to do that to Maria Schneider?? And you wonder why there's a #MeToo movement in existence.
It should also be noted that Bertolucci was a co-scenarist on his fellow Italian director Sergio Leone's magisterial 1969 Western epic ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, along with Leone himself and another well-known Italian director, Dario Argento. That film, of course, is known for being an absolute encyclopedia of Western film references from the silent era up to the 1960s.
