Rare, unreleased song, from her 1999 box set.

That song ends with some of Linda's most gorgeous "oohs".

Although Linda may have a better voice, I always love Karla Bonoff's version a little bit better since it is her song (so it must relate to some part of her life). She usually sings it at her concerts, and you can feel the personal experience in the voice.

I would assume that the song also relates to some part of Linda's life or else she wouldn't have sung it.
We give Karla plenty of love here.

And to also be fair, both women have benefitted mightily from their friendship, as has often been the case with anyone Linda has become friends with, female or otherwise (IMHO).

Karla said she wrote several songs with Linda in mind in sort of a simpatico effort of "what would Linda sing." Lose Again was one such song. Possibly this one too. It would be a good question to ask Karla should we ever be so lucky to get a response. And I agree, Karla is wonderful in her own right...so talented. Wendy is another. Linda lucked out with their friendships and talent.

Why was this song not on any album of Linda's? Was it to let Karla have it to herself, not to be covered and compared?
There are other songs that FS is better than, its omission is a puzzlement, as is "She's A Very Lovely Woman" from Linda's Capitol days.

Karla is INCREDible....didn't really appreciate her vocal until much much later...its so wondrous how she is out there..or at least was fairly recently!!!!

I think both “Bordertown” and “Falling Star” are from the Living in the U.S.A. sessions.

Yes its on the Rarities disc, the 4th CD in the set of 4. heartbreaker, thanks. I was at my local record store when it opened on the day that the box set was released. I have three of the box sets. Am familiar with where it is on Disc 4. Thanks though.

Falling Star is why I originally bought the Box Set, then Bandit & A Heartbreaker too. Rarities is the disc I most listen to in that set. I love most other artists original versions that Linda covers, but its Linda's voice that I love most (& her looks)! All these pop stars I was/am a fan of are aging, ailing & passing.
