Trying to complete my Linda collection

Hi everyone:)

My name is Cristian. I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 47 years old.

I just registered myself in this forum.

I do not consider myself a Linda Ronstadt fan, just a big admirer. I mean, I love, I admire tons of artists from all around the world. That's why I don't usually register nor participate in forums. I visit them though, mostly searching for certain info on the artists I love. However... Linda Ronstadt, I could say, is to me one of the greatest artists in music history, and certainly one of the very few versatile ones enough to cover a huge range of styles with a unique and beautiful, strong, sweet voice.

In other words, even though I love/admire tons of artists (I mean... hundreds), if I had an artists' "Top 5", Linda's there. Don't ask me which position, lol, but she's there.

So... why am I here?

I recently started organizing my vinyls/CDs/DVDs collection, and decided to check and (hopefully) complete each artist's discography. Of all these artists I love, I almost have it all. I own over 5000 vinyl (LPs), over 5000 CDs... over 4000 DVDs... everything original (retail or promo stuff). I have bought or traded stuff all my life at records stores, and from online sites like eBay, Gemm (it no longer exists), MusicStack, Eil, etc.

I also, in recent years, have bought music & video in digital format. By doing so, I realized it's cool (for me at least) to have all of my collection backed up to digital format (just in case one morning I get up and decide to sell all the original stuff... After all, the only important thing is the music, not those pieces of plastic, if you know what I mean). So... I started doing this with some artists a couple of months ago. Mariah Carey, Taylor Dayne, Aaron Neville, Neville Brothers, Barbra Streisand... and now I'm almost finished with my Linda Ronstadt collection. I have ripped each and every single CD of hers and CDs of other artists where she participated. To my own surprise, as for her solo discography, I have all of her released CDs. I only miss the third Stone Poneys CD (which I have in mp3). I have found a website (last updated february 22, 2013) that contains detailed info of her recordings that are not part of her personal discography (meaning duets, songs in which she recorded backing, background vocals or harmonies, and solo recordings that appear on other artists' albums, soundtracks, etc). I reached a point I finished with that list, only to find out there are certain radio or edit versions in promo cd singles (found them at discogs) that I don't have. I also found out about "Lago Azul", the spanish version of "Blue Bayou" yesterday (even though I heard/seen her singing it live before, singing the last part of the song in spanish). So... I'm at this point where I really want to complete it and move forward with another artist. Needless to say, in this process I have heard each and every recording of hers. Even though the album "Canciones de siempre" by Los Camperos de Nati Cano is listed as "being researched" on the website I mentioned before, I have heard the whole album twice and I can say for sure Linda DOES NOT sing in any of those songs (just to let you know), even though she produced that record.

I do expect to trade tracks in digital format with other fans. I'm not interested on buying any more stuff (of any artist anyway). So, if anyone's interested on trading, just drop me a PM:)

Here's the list of my Linda Ronstadt collection (Bootleg recordings are NOT listed here, though I have many, especially concerts, in audio format). All the songs where Linda sings background vocals or harmonies (alone or with some other artist/s) say in their title "(BV Linda Ronstadt)". Just lazy. I should have stated on each track if it was BV, Harmonies, or both.
Finally, there are recordings I took from YouTube. Each track's title states where it comes from (except for the lossless ones, which come from either original CD or LP).
At the end of the list I'll write some info about what I'm looking for.

I am curious why Valerie did not make your list? She was friends with and, according to Dec. 1976 Rolling Stone's interview with Linda R. collaborated with Linda going back to the mid 1970's:  www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/linda-ronstadt-the-million-dollar-woman-35416/
They both sang backgrounds for many of the same artists and also sang backgrounds on each other's records. They were friends.

Don't take it personal:) Valerie's not listed in my post, as at least other 3 or 4 hundred artists. It is impossible for me to list them all. Besides, that wasn't even a priority in my post. It was just "let's give other users an idea of what else I do love in the music field". I absolutely adore Valerie's voice and I was so sad when I learned she passed away a few years ago. Sadly tragedy was in my life too as the person who I loved so much and shared 19 years with me passed away too last august due to a longtime major depression. So I got to experience both pains. Losing artists I loved, like Valerie, and losing the most important person in my life. There's been a couple of very hard years for me, that's the main reason why I've been absent from here for so long. I'm getting better now, so I'll probably be participating a bit more.

Linda's voice and talent is beyond limits to me. She's one of those artists that are so impressive you can't even begin to describe how great she's been in so many aspects. I don't like really to put anyone up there, number 1, lol. But if I had to choose, well, yes (and that's why I'm here). I'd pick Linda for sure if I had to pick up a few artists.

I was going through cd's organizing them and I found a Linda GH Vol 2 case. Of course the right cd wasn't in it. The Stone Poneys and Friends Vol 3 was in it. A Capitol release. I have all 3 SP albums. I forgot I had the third. Had fun listening to it last night. We have a Bang and Olufsen stereo and it sounded great. eddiejinnj

I have every Linda & SP album on either both vinyl & CD or one of them. Individual tracks from other artists' albums, I usually buy as MP3s.

I have the 2 1966 SP Mike Curb produced tracks, and am looking for a full length "Different Drum" on an album.

Non-album singles are good to find, as are different performances of some things. My quest has got geekier.

Crackles & pops aside, Linda on decent condition vinyl sounds fine. Linda and other vinyl-era singers were recorded mixed and mastered differently, on the tech of the time, to be played on the tech of the time. They knew the limitations & adjusted mainly realistically.

I am getting Linda LPs, including the mono "The Stone Poneys" & Vol 2 "Evergreen", & any others. Drawn the line at commercial cassette tapes though!

While I think part of the blame for Linda being ignored has to be laid at her feet, a lot of it has to be chalked up to an entertainment media in America that has the attention span of a flea. The public itself also doesn't do enough to look up info on anyone who doesn't have their name splashed all over creation (a la Beyoncé). As H.L. Mencken was known to have said: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."
