As some of you may know, the Eagles have, for a limited time, their own channel on Sirius XM (channel 30). That limited time has been extended. The station plays not only the music of Eagles, but their influences and friends. Also they play other folks who have recorded their songs. I have heard Desperado by Diana Krall and by Clint Black, Heartache Tonight by Conway Twitty. Oddly I have not heard any version of Desperado by Linda Ronstadt or any of her songs that have any Eagles playing with her.
They have a segment called "Eagles Family Tree" where they look at their influences. On one of these that I have heard four or five times, they state that the Eagles would probably never have existed without Linda Ronstadt and briefly explain their early formation. Then they play a Ronstadt song- I've heard That'll Be the Day, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, and Silver Threads and Golden Needles, which they said was originally recorded by "rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson."
While not as compelling as the Beatles channel, you are more likely to hear Ronstadt on the Eagles Channel. But it is for a limited time only if you want to catch it if you enjoy Eagles music.

I put on the Eagles Channel while I finish reading my Kinky Friedman biography. And less than an hour after posting the above, I hear Joe Walsh introducing Desperado sung by Linda Ronstadt.

I remember Joe being interviewed by Howard Stern, a while back (very funny) and he told a story about inviting his dad to a practice session. He said his dad had virtually no interest in the Eagles, but just wanted to flirt with Linda, who was there at the time.

Funny, I've been listening to the Eagles channel for over a month and have yet to hear a single song by Linda played. Not even during Souther's guest d.j. appearance.

Unless, or even if, they have been unduly influenced by the dreaded Dave Marsh, I think it is a little disingenuous of the Eagles not to play Linda's music a lot more than they do on their Sirius XM channel, given that the group wouldn't even have existed in the first place had she not been there.

I'm glad to hear (?) that they are playing Linda, even if I always seem to miss her.
