The (underappreciated) song from An American Tail (Fievel goes west), 'Dreams to dream' is one of my favorites. Is there a live version of this classic available? I've searched YouTube etc.. and cannot find it.

As far as I know, Linda never did that song live. This is the video for it, however:

Love her performance on that song. I'm not a fan of power ballads in general (can't bring myself to listen to Don't Know Much ever again), but this one is exceptional. Besides Linda's full-bore emotional reading, there's something almost apocalyptic about the arrangement that tones down the power ballad's usual corny sentimentality.
Can't say I especially like the video, though. The animated clips don't really enforce the lyric of the song, and Linda's "singing head" shots are obviously lip-synced, which is fine for a video, but she fails to "act" according to the sounds she's making. In fact, if you turn the sound off, you'd almost think she was giving an interview and not belting out a song.
I agree, overlooked, under-appreciated.

Dreams to Dream has never been one of my favorites. I too am not crazy about power ballads in general (although I consider Don't Know Much just to be a lovely ballad that shows Linda's range). To me this song sounds like something that is more in the style of Celine Dion, who wanted to record it and would probably have gotten a lot of radio support and had a huge hit.

Maybe I'm going against the grain (not the first time, and probably not the last), but I really loved "Dreams To Dream" and Linda's said performance of it. I know all about the kerfuffle over Celine Dion wanting to do it, but I'm glad Linda got around to doing it. It may seem like an odd song to have in an animated film that is, after all, also a Western, but it's a song that works for me, power ballad or otherwise.

I think did a lovely job on the song, and I like the arrangement. I shudder to think about Celine Dion shrieking the song into submission (sorry fans)..
