I just read this in Billboard, he was still alive, that was 2 minutes ago. Between Vegas and this, no way. I am going to take an hour to digest this before reading your post robertaxel. I have to digest this. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers have been my favorite band since 1980. I knew he had fought the beast in the more recent past, then again with that stuff its day by day...This is kinda, really very, (using trump language) a bit much. I need an hour to think about this before believing it can't be fake news.

I'm hoping this will be one of those near death experiences but no brain activity is not a good thing but stranger things have happened to people.I started a new thread. He is unfortunately not in the hospital. Tom Petty is reportedly 'clinging to life' after suffering full cardiac arrest 3:59 p.m. ET
Update 5:19 p.m. ET: The Los Angeles Police Department said Monday that it could not confirm Petty's passing after all. "The LAPD has no information about the passing of singer Tom Petty. Initial information was inadvertently provided to some media sources. However, the LAPD has no investigative role in this matter," the department wrote on Twitter. Petty's current health status is unknown, though TMZ reports he is "clinging to life" but "not expected to live throughout the day." Our original story appears below.
Tom Petty of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers died Monday at the age of 66. He was found unconscious in his home after suffering full cardiac arrest late Sunday, TMZ reports. He was then rushed to the hospital, but was taken off life support Monday because he had no brain activity, TMZ says. The Los Angeles Police confirmed to CBS News that the legendary musician had died.
Petty, famous for songs like "I Won't Back Down" and "Free Fallin,'" had just finished a national anniversary tour with his band a week ago: "Thanks to everyone for supporting us for the last 40 years!" he tweeted Friday. "Without YOU there'd be no US!" —Jeva Lange

I just clipped this and still one link says dead and the other is unclear:I have to say this has been one helluva crappy day and still 7.5 hours to go!
Before giving up on Tom I am going to spend the next half hour in quiet time sending him good vibes no matter where he is.

I'm sending the good vibes to Tom as well and hoping he pulls through. Just once I'd like the doctors to be wrong.
