Of those listed only Aretha Franklin should be on there. Whitney Houston had arguably one of the top 10 best voices, but she was often let down by sub-par material and lame assembly line productions that sucked the life and soul out of her records. All the others are either terrible (Carey, Dion, Perry)) or good, but definitely not all time top 10 (Adele).

What a weird list. I guess anybody can make up a 10 ten list. With the exception of Janis and Aretha, most of those singers are pretty much contemporary. I love Madonna the artist but as far as her singing goes, I wouldn't qualify her as top 15 or even 20. I'm surprised Brittney Spears isn't on that strange list too. LOL

A more accurate description of this list would be:

Apart from Aretha (well, why wouldn't she be on it?) and perhaps Adele, I can think of a ton of other great women (starting with Linda [natch!]) who belong on there more than most of those overcooked diva hams.

Linda Ronstadt, Dusty Springfield, Etta James, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Ann Peebles, Millie Jackson - all of them better singers than anyone on that list with the exception of Aretha Franlin, and there no doubt are many that slip my mind right now. Not to mention Sarah Vaughan, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Helen Merrill, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Jane Monheit, Doris Day, Chris Connor, June Christy, Anita O'Day, Rosemary Clooney, etc, etc, etc. Have those that made that list ever actually listened to music, or what?

I was looking at that list last week but kept getting some security warning. That list is more than a top ten. It goes way beyond. I recall it was posted a year or two ago here and at that time Linda was in the top 10 but it is hard to compete with all the tweens that are online today voting for their favorites. I mean just look at the millions of hits just ONE song by some of todays popular singers get on youtube.
