Same thing with Beyoncé, she's an entertainer, not a great singer. Simple Dreams should have been on the list too, it's a classic. Good to see Adele's 21 up there, she's really talented.

It would probably be better for her to be a dancer/entertainer and stop this crazy idea that she's somehow an actual singer. The term that unfortunately comes to mind when I see her try to be all three things at once is SIGHT GAG

As for HLAW at No. 53 I agree way low. Is that the only Linda album on list? Does any artist have multiple entries. eddiejinnj

I had it translated from Bulgarian and Ukrainian. Both translations were the same. It's about water analysis. Nothing to do with Linda Ronstadt. The last line is a link. I wouldn't click on it.

I just don’t get it with Beyoncé. Besides being good looking and whipping her hair around, what is it that makes her so over the top popular? She’s no Tina Turner who is awesome.

I think it is a combination of what is popular at the moment, sex appeal and a solid fan base. I recently heard on NPR that Rock Music was DEAD. That conclusion came because there was no solid guitar solo or bridge (or something like that) in any of the top 100 for a certain period of time. I listened to some of Beyonce's songs after your comment as I was not familiar with her. Her voice isn't bad, she certainly is sexy to the max and knows how to use it and she has style. I was trying to identify the genre but couldn't. Reminds me a bit of the old dance music which even then I thought was just too loud and busy. It certainly fits today's fast paced society. I often wondered if I were born in the 80's or 90's what my music proclivities would be.

I don't get all the hype.. I feel the same way about Arianna Grande..

Quote by ronstadtfanaz:
Given the fact that I was born in 1970, and went to high school in the mid-to-late 1980s, my proclivities should have run towards hair metal and maybe Madonna. Fortunately, even though it meant I was ostracized in high school, my aunt's copy of Living In The USA saved me, and I got into Linda, the Eagles, and most everything that was released in the 70s instead.
Quote by moon:
I think for a lot of people she represents a representation of Black Women empowerment, and a general railing of today's African-Americans railing against White patriarchy. There's probably a lot more to it on a socio-political level, because I don't think she can be compared as a singer to past legends like Aretha.
Quote by Dianna:
As for Ariana--well, it seems like she is to young girls of this era what Madonna was in the mid-1980s: someone full of show. At least that's the explanation I can come up with off the top, since, like Beyoncé. I don't think she's really that much of a singer, more of what passes nowadays for an "entertainer".
Linda, on the other hand, really set a high bar for others to reach for in terms of becoming first-rate singers and encouraging such singers to be authentically who they are. It's instructive to remember that the poster outside the Tribeca Film Festival for Linda Ronstadt: The Sound Of My Voice said of Linda: "She broke all the rules". If that isn't a case of Truth In Advertising, folks, I don't know what is.
