Apparently Lago Azul was issued on a compilation album in 2001:
DIVAS EN ESPAÑOL Warner Music 2001
09 Linda Ronstadt - Lago Azul (Blue Bayou) (at 31.00)

What I don't get is that according to wiki they show 2 versions of this album one for the American market with 11 tracks (Linda not listed) and one for the Latin America market with 13 tracks. One of 2 extras for this album is a song by Madonna and her pic on that version album cover but Linda is not listed again on this version also. What gives? eddiejinnj

When did Linda first start singing the last part of Blue Bayou in Spanish? The earliest clip I found was on The Tonight Show in 1983. Did she ever talk about it in interviews? I wonder if her singing the Mr. Plow song in Spanish on The Simpsons was a reference to that.

I think she actually recorded the Spanish-language version of "Blue Bayou" while her own original was on the charts in late 1977.

And Linda's father Gilbert Ronstadt wrote the Spanish lyrics to Lago Azul
This is the Spanish to English Translation of Lago Azul
Blue Lake (Blue Bayou) I'm sad and worried A little alone when I leave Walking away from my love in blue lake Working without rest When I think what love is Waiting for my love to listen in blue lake I'm going back someday to see my blue lake With my darling to see who loves me in my blue lake To see the boats as butterflies To awaken again When the sun comes up my heart wants to sing I'm going to see my love again And I'll never be alone So content I'll be in blue lake Working without rest When I think what love is Waiting for my love to listen in blue lake I'm going back someday to see my blue lake With my darling to see who loves me in my blue lake To see the boats as butterflies To awaken again When the sun comes up my heart wants to sing ~~~ My love, you are at my side Silver moon, glassy water I will be able to forget the cruel pain that makes me cry And how happy I'll be with my love all mine in blue lake
Lago Azul Spanish Translation is also popular (Blue Bayou) and was used on an episode of the hit T.V. Show Empire

I adore singing in Spanish....it is such a round resonant reed to sing.......I wrote a EDM "Mi Casa" and I just love how that track came out
I think that the whole Bayou octave jump in Spanish was really facilitated for public performance, I think, but what do I know..hahah... by moving to spanish...it would flow sooo much easier....I have studied that "note" for eons...and its actually with a tiny gracenote in front u ooh...its right on a soprano's passagio...so it can get tricky
moving it to Spanish made it waaaayy easier IMHO

I think she actually recorded the Spanish-language version of "Blue Bayou" while her own original was on the charts in late 1977. It's been a little whitle now since I played the 40th anniversary of "Simple Dreams" with the three live cuts that will be (again) on "Live in Hollywood," but to my recollection, she does that latter part of "Blue Bayou" in Spanish. And that was 1980. I can remember seeing Linda in the late 1970s and Linda singing the last part in Spanish. And ending it with "en Lago Azul."

Yes, Linda actually released "Blue Bayou" in Spanish language. I bought the red 12-inch vinyl when I traveled to the U.S.A. in March 1980.
When she first toured in Japan in March 1979, she sang the song partially in Spanish language. She may have started singing in Spanish earlier, but you cannot tell.
It is very difficult to find the bootleg albums recorded in 1977 (after "Simple Dreams" album release in August, 1977) and in 1978.

There was a blue vinyl of the song if I remember rt? Eddiejinnj I recall something about one of the Beatles or the defunct group itself using some of Linda's Blue Bayou excess vinyl to print a now very rare vinyl recording in Blue. Obviously I can't remember the details. Maybe someone else can fill us in if they remember. Might have been another act but it seemed Beatles related in my limited memory.

I had a lucid moment of remembering:
10th August, 2015 Memorabilia: Blue vinyl White Album
This original 'BLUE' vinyl copy of The Beatles White album has been kindly loaned to The Beatles Story. It is the only version in existence according to Christie's and Sotheby's auction houses.
During the late 1960's its owner was working for a West London record pressing plant that was printing a special order for the double LP 'The Beatles' - universally known as The White Album. At the same time the pressing plant also happened to be running Linda Ronstadt's 'Blue Bayou' that was to be printed on a blue vinyl.
The owner seized the opportunity to make a unique version of the White Album for himself. He moved the White Album master copy onto the Blue Bayou press and produced one totally blue vinyl version of the White Album.
Years later he met Paul McCartney at a TV studio and took the LP along for Paul to sign.
See this and many other great items of memorabilia only at the Beatles Story, Liverpool. The only problem factually is that Blue Bayou was printed in the late 1970s which is what I am sure they meant here.
