If you haven't heard or read this story so far, singer Olivia Newton-John is battling cancer. Again. Newton-John, 68, announced the news on Facebook. The cancer began in her breast (again) and has metastasized to her her sacrum and possibly other areas of her body. And just like it was when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in the 80s, the news came as Olivia was set to tour again. The tour is postponed as Olivia is scheduled to begin therapies designed to try and beat her cancer. Wish her luck, wish her love. But, the fact the cancer has already metastasized to at least one other part of her body and maybe more, the news is worrisome, though lovely Olivia, remains optimistic. www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/olivia-newton-john-diagnosed-with-breast-cancer-again-w484867

This is really horrible to hear. Just when you thought that Olivia had beaten this hideous disease, suddenly it comes back and may yet prove fatal to her. Here's hoping that I am totally mistaken about that.

So sorry to hear the news. It must be devastating for her to think she had conquered the disease thirty years ago and have it come back. Makes you wonder if cancer can ever be "cured" it looks like there is still a long way to go to that end. May she and her family stay strong and resolute thru this trial.

I don't think cancer can be beaten, although the only person I ever knew who beat it and lived to a ripe old age (99) was my beloved aunt, when she was in her 60s. It never came back on her and if medical science could ever figure out why, there could be hope for others. With Olivia, when I saw that damned word metastasized, that's the one word a cancer patient doesn't want to hear as it usually means you may not have that much time left, depending on how aggressive the cancer is. A further irony is that Olivia is another of the celebrities who engage in a healthy life style, just so they can avoid getting cancer. But, it seems like there's no such thing really as a healthy life style, because you do everything right and still get cancer. Just doesn't make sense.

It can be beaten but it takes a lot of effort, right treatments, proper mindset and luck if all the correct things come together. Look at Jimmy Carter with brain cancer at 94. He looks better than our current president.
I believe Olivia was recently married so she has a good support system behind her plus all of her fans. If I am not mistaken she was into healthy living styles for a long time but I am not sure it helped her much which is what worries me some. Cancer loves sugar and sugar forming foods. Something we should all avoid. Easier said than done.

Olivia Newton-John reveals she was unable to walk after cancer diagnosis, uses marijuana to ease pain Nicole Bitette Sep 12, 2017 2:22 PM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Olivia Newton-John revealed that she was unable to walk after her recent cancer diagnosis.
The 68-year-old "Grease" star sat down with "60 Minutes" Australia and discussed discovering this May that her breast cancer had returned after more than 20 years and spread to her lower spine.
"The pain level was really the hardest thing," Newton-John told the news program, according to Entertainment Tonight. "I was trying to do shows and it was pretty agonizing."
She shared that she has been using medical marijuana grown by her husband John to ease the pain, as well as undergoing herbal and photon radiation therapies.
Newton-John had undergone chemotherapy and a partial mastectomy back in 1992 and had thought she beat the cancer.
Most recently, the struggle is just trying to getting around.
"I can walk, but I can't go long distances," she said during the TV interview. "But I'll get there, because I couldn't walk at all a month or so ago. As I heal I'll be able to walk more."
The singer canceled her tour dates for June after learning she had cancer once again.
She now said she's focused on getting better, because she has "lots to do."
"It's probably something I'll deal with the rest of my life," she said. "But I will and I'll be fine and there have been a lot of women, who have had reoccurrences, and continue on with their lives to be old ladies. That's my vision."
Newton-John became an outspoken advocate for health awareness after her diagnosis in the '90s, leading her to launch the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Bless her heart. Olivia has definitely been in my thoughts and prayers. It is difficult to watch our youthful idols suffer and like Linda Olivia is very pragmatic and positive about her situation. Both are setting great examples for their fans of how to deal with adversity in their personal struggles.

Damn! I was hoping she had beaten it, but this time it came back quicker than it did the first. God, I pray she beats it a third time for good. :-(

God, how much should one person have to go through?? Without question. It seems like the illness is stalking her. I've also asked the same about Linda as she hasn't exactly been a well person since she approached her 60s way back when. Diabetes, the thyroid disease, a bout with breast cancer as well and then the Parkinson's. Linda and Olivia are both positive people but I have to wonder how difficult it must be for them to stay positive with all that adversity happening to them. A lesser person would've thrown in the towel by now.

One thing that may make the difference between Linda and Olivia remaining positive and the average person doing so is their ability to afford quality healthcare without worrying how to pay for it. If you have to worry about losing your home, spending your kids college funds, going bankrupt....it all weighs heavy and is quite a burden to carry and remain positive. That is why the Left is so adamant about providing healthcare for all. It is also why every Western country (except the USA) provides it for their people. I just don't get the "why not" excuses considering our extravagant corporate welfare policies. I didn't know Linda struggled with breast cancer? Sheesh. Makes me love her more to know she has gone through all those things and is such a great ambassador for humanhood.

I just don't get the "why not" excuses considering our extravagant corporate welfare policies. I didn't know Linda struggled with breast cancer? Sheesh. Makes me love her more to know she has gone through all those things and is such a great ambassador for humanhood. When Linda was 60, she was in the hospital for surgery. No one knew exactly why she was in the hospital. It was rumored she had some kind of cancer but her representatives denied that she was in the hospital for any kind of cancer. When the news broke of her Parkinson's, there was a listing in some accounts of the illnesses she has been battling over the years. The type 2 diabetes was mentioned, the thyroid was mentioned and it was mentioned the surgery she had when she was 60 was for breast cancer. That was a newspaper account and I once found a story on the internet which more or less verified she had dealt with cancer. Like you, the things she has gone through makes me love her all the more. And she might not like me saying so, but God bless her that she is so strong. Same for Olivia, yet it's worrisome for both ladies as what else can be thrown at them that will make them possibly give up? The loss of family members, especially the siblings is something that also must be taken into account. When your siblings die, part of you dies as well. Linda has lost her older sister and youngest brother. Olivia lost her older sister several years ago. Death takes its toll and makes you less resistant to its touch and crossing over.

Not sure why but my impression of the mysterious surgery was that it was a hysterectomy and not breast cancer. Linda still appears to be "intact" there but who knows? I believe that is what cut her tour with Ann Savoy short. I am just glad she made it through to another day.

I've been searching for the article online but all I keep finding online are stories are about Linda's Parkinson's. I did find one article about the mysterious surgery - a Fox News article, of all things. And it's a skimpy read, although it quotes Linda's agent as saying it wasn't cancer. But, I know I did come across another article where it said it was cancer. The internet is supposed to be a place where it's impossible to lose anything. I don't think I'd bet the rent on that. Below is the link to the Fox News story, but if they are fake news...: www.foxnews.com/story/2006/08/25/linda-ronstadt-cancels-tour-after-surgery.html
