This is one of Linda's most underrated duet vocals in my opinion. Such a great song and the voices combine wonderfully.
What does anyone else think of this?

Great subtle harmonies and definitely in Linda's country music wheelhouse. Would have been nice for Duets album to get more exposure.

Wonderful cut. Linda really shines through on the chorus. It's clear, given the quality of the lead singers voice, why Linda got involved. The dynamics and emotion of the performance are, as was said, right up Linda's alley. This is a prime example of what country music was and could be.
By the way the cut that PoP80 posted is what u had in mind wasn't it Fab? For some reason a link or attachment didn't show up in it initial post-most likely a deficiency in my equipment.

I bought the CD because of Linda's vocals on THAT one track - which is great. I found the rest of the CD sort of disappointing - considering that it is made up of Seldom Scene personnel. The album is relatively recent - 1997. An interesting statement about LR in the Pier Pressure liner notes: "She sings more than just notes, and conveys more than just words."

If you like Chesapeake duet, you should listen to the other Linda Ronstadt guest vocals with many of the same personnel:
Seldom Scene: Old Train (1974) - Through the Bottom of the Glass & Old Crossroads The New SS Album (1976) - California Earthquake 15th Anniv. Celebration (1988) - Drifting Too Far From the Shore High on a Hilltop, & The Sweetest Gift
Mike Auldridge: Blues & Bluegrass (1974) - Bottom Dollar
Herb Pedersen: Southwest (1976) - Our Baby's Gone Sandman (1977) - If I Lose & Sandman
The list goes on an on. Her two live bluegrass bootleg recordings at McCabe's from 1974 and 1975 are great too. So, add bluegrass to all of Linda's other genres.

15th Anniv. Celebration (1988) - Drifting Too Far From the Shore High on a Hilltop The Sweetest Gift Also on the Seldom Scene 15th Anniversary Celebration, Linda does a live version of Keep Me From Blowing Away. It does a good job of capturing how ballad Linda sounded in concert.

the live version of KMFBA on the Seldom Scene 15th anniversary CD is stunning. One of my favourite tracks ever by Linda, her voice is perfect. I really wish this has been taped for video release.

This may have already been discussed on the forum, but I love the duet Linda does with Chesapeake singer Mondi Klein. It's called Bed of Roses and it's on Chesapeake's Pier Pressure album. It will give you chills. I love Mondi Klein's voice and that group has recorded a lot of the same songs Linda has, including Morning Blues and Are You Tired Of Me My Darling. This will probably get me in trouble here, but IMHO their version of High Sierra surpasses the Trio's version. Mondi's voice is both soothing and sad on the song where Linda is, frankly, wailing. It's rare that I hear someone sing a song better than Linda, though. She's tops in my book.
