Yes, and I am pretty damned sure that there are those who will say that because she is a "folk singer" that Joan doesn't belong there. Sorry folks, but yes she does, as much as Mr. Dylan.
And this can't be stressed too much: Folk music was an essential component of rock and roll even before the folk music revival came about, when we talk about the folk music of Appalachia and the rural black blues music of the South. Joan was part of that urban folk music explosion that not only helped give rise to a topical kind of songwriting and performing, but also helped us reconnect with those older forms of folk music. And what the folk music revival also gave us is Linda herself, since Joan was very much one of her heroes from that period.
