We had talked about this interview in the past, no? I think it was done not long ago. Maybe to coincide with the LI Tilles Center speaking engagement? Thanks so much for the heads up. eddiejinfl

What's up with the 5:00 to 8:00 window? Is that as precise as we can get? Sounds like an appointment for the cable guy. Not that I'm bitching of course! Still hope to catch this somehow.

It's part of John Platt's Sunday Supper broadcast, which airs from 5-8 pm. I'm trying to get a more definitive time.

You can usually replay John Platt's Sunday Supper show online @wfuv the next day. It also streams live. This Platt dude is a big Linda devotee. Yes he was the moderator at the Tilles - Long Island show

It will be on the final hour of the broadcast tonight but also available in the archives, as you indicated. It's part of the interview from Tilles.

They do not seem to have yesterday's (3/19/17) broadcast of John Platt's Sunday Supper up yet for streaming. It would be great if once someone is able to stream the broadcast to post so on this thread so the rest of us will know that it is up to stream for those of us that missed it yesterday. Thanks!

I listened to the re-broadcast a couple of days ago. Yes, it's annoying that there's no way to fast forward, since the interview is during the last hour. I called WFUV and they're trying to work this out because others have complained about this problem. Nothing much new in the way of information from Linda, but nice to re-visit her interesting career journey and musical collaborations. The clips of the songs illuminated the clarity and richness of her tone. Totally unique and always amazing to hear no matter how many times. Her speaking voice sounded a lot deeper and raspier than in the past. Quite a contrast from the "Minnie Mouse" voice and meandering thoughts in the Mike Douglas interview from the '70s.

I thought she sounded great. Oh-by the way the Linda part starts at about 2:24 into the recording. Unless someone can come up with a slideable time thing you can always find something to do for an hour and a half and come back at Linda time.
Oh by the way welcome back musedeva sorry to hear you were ill-glad you're feeling better!

Thanks Pop80 - it is just Linda now on the link. She sounds lovely as ever. Platt, who I listen to sometimes on WFUV is sooooooo soooooo laid back - no new words from Linda but just hearing her is a joy.

Someday, when life slows down, will have to make a compilation of her radio interviews that I have. After listening to this one, I just re-listened to "The Linda Ronstadt Story" 12/9-10/1989. There is also the NRP Piano Jazz w/ Marian McPartland from 4-10/2005 (she even wrote a song for Linda), NPR Wait Wait Don't Tell Me from 1-5-2008, and the interview from 1-2 years ago from "Six Degrees of Separation (from Linda Ronstadt)" from the local station Sunday night format (they were sold, and the show - I don't think - is on the radio anymore). Any other great interviews others have?

Does anyone have a copy of the radio interview where Linda talks about her sister crying over Hank Williams when he died? I remember that story so vividly and it was very funny.

Hey Ronstadtfanaz Rob.. Question? At one point in your life were you ever a logger in Oregon? lol We were eating at The Logger Restaurant tonight and there was a photo of a logger guy looked just like you. the photo appeared to be from 1970's beard and all.

No, wasn't me but they say we all have a double or a doppleganger somewhere. Early on I was told I looked like Jesus, Jackson Browne and then Kris Kristofferson and then Neil Diamond none of whom look alike. It is interesting how other people see you. I must have met 3-4 people that looked like Linda in my life. And as we grow older we all start looking alike lol. Like big babies. I almost wish I was in Oregon with this unbearable hot summer on the horizon. Every year seems to be hotter than the last.

Having heard the interview yesterday afternoon, I agree that her voice sounds a lot lower than it did in the interviews she gave in the 70s and 80s; and although her mind is still sharp and agile, she is slower in getting there because of Parkinson's, as she readily admitted.
But also in marked contrast to how she has felt in the past, she seems to look back at her most popular years and her formative ones with a certain amount of fondness, especially given how many friends and peers she met along the way; and she acknowledged Trisha Yearwood covering her own composition "Try Me Again". She is clearly still hugely appreciated by people wherever she does these discussions.

When answering the question re: doing an album with a small jazz trio and she said she did that and just briefly struggled for the title I said "Hummin' to Myself". When she answers the question she says "Hummin' to Myself", "Thank you" she was thanking me for helping her recall title. It was a great night and she looked great in her outfit and eye makeup. eddiejinfl

I kindly sent John Platt an e-mail re: a factual mistake in the article that accompanied the edited audio of the Tilles Center engagement. What is the factual mistake in the article? Just something for us fans to do lol!!!!!!! eddiejinfl

She was nominated for a Tony for her role in Pirates of Penzance in 1981, but Lauren Bacall won for Woman of the Year.

I wonder if you'll get a reply from John Platt. As much as I loved Linda in Pirates (and I saw it about a million times), acting is not her strength but the overall performance was charming!
