Probably the biggest mega-fan of Linda's in the music business is celebrating her 52nd birthday today. Trisha Yearwood (whom I will not call Mrs. Garth Brooks, just because everybody else does [LOL]) was born on this date, September 19, 1964, in Monticello, Georgia. Although she did have an interest in music via her parents' collection of country records, plus Elvis, it was when she was into her early teens that she finally decided to become a singer for real because of Linda's crowning achievements. Happy Birthday, Trisha.

Trisha has joked over the years about her being such a fan of Linda's that Linda probably should have placed a restraining order on her for stalking. As we know, however, Linda has seen far worse stalkers in her time; and besides, the two did meet on at least one occasion we're sure of--here in L.A., backstage at the Universal Amphitheatre in 1995 (during Linda's L.A. stop on the Feels Like Home tour): I don't know about anyone else here, but I think it is one of the great tragedies in the music business that Trisha didn't get the chance to sing or record with Linda, since this was a childhood dream of hers. Like the rest of us, perhaps even more so because it was Linda's example that motivated her to become a singer in the first place, she was hugely heartbroken to hear of Linda's Parkinson's diagnosis. Still, in loving and passionate tribute to Linda, Trisha has done a number of Linda's hits at many (if not indeed all) of her shows. And Trisha has covered Linda on her albums too: "Mr. Radio" (on 1993's The Song Remembers When; Linda did it on Get Closer), and "Try Me Again" (on 2000's Real Live Woman, which Linda of course co-wrote for Hasten Down The Wind)--so she's someone who definitely puts her money where her mouth is. And Trisha posted this on her Facebook page this past July 15th:
