Sadly, I don't listen to music as much as I used to. For years as a programmer I'd listen to Internet music with headphones on while I worked. KFOG in San Francisco had a great Internet broadcast, and another source labeled "Coffeehouse" music was good too. I picked up new music from artists old and new, but they weren't mainstream. That's what I liked about it.
It's a struggle to find good music anymore. I liked the new "wierd music" trend (Joanna Newsom etc...). I was into TripHop for awhile even, but the last artists I remember getting excited about were Amy Winehouse, Patty Griffin, The Weepies, and Eilen Jewel. And I guess Adele is good, I mostly enjoy singing her songs myself.
It's just not like it used to be--before MTV made talent all about looks, instead of...musical talent.
Flipping through cable channels I sometimes land on Kardashians, and the background music in that show makes me wanna vomit! Worst sound ever...
