I was listening again to this song the other day, the first time for ages.
How did this come about? Anyone know?
I read that George Lucas was involved in the creation/development of the series so there is a link to him obviously as they dated but I guess it's quite strange that someone of Linda's calibre doing this sort of thing?

As far as I know, Linda played the role of a character named Peggy in one episode of Young Indiana Jones Chronicles in 1993.

We have covered this before here on the Forum. Linda "played" no one, however, Linda's voice was used and a character lipsynched to Linda's pre-recorded track on this short-lived ABC-TV series, "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles." Yes, George Lucas was a producer of the TV series just as he was with the films.

Yes she didn't appear but someone lipsynced to her singing The Man I Love. Was just thinking about how this came about? Probably through GL

This is such a fun tune from Linda. The rawness of her voice is just spectacular and hair-raising. I call this her Marni Nixon moment. I wonder if she did any other voice-overs or even snippits of music for George Lucas that could someday come out for us to enjoy. George Lucas is a perfectionist and her knew the perfect voice when he heard it. I believe this was uncredited on purpose to make the show more inspiring but Linda's voice is unmistakeable to her fans. The casual viewer though probably finished that show saying they heard the next great singer.
For those who don't know my Marni Nixon reference, Google her. She was the mother of Andrew Gold who everyone knows. She was infamous as the best voice in Hollywood with a voice that everyone knew but couldn't put their finger on. She famously sang the lead voices in My Fair Lady, The King and I, West Side Story and many others. She even provided the high notes for Marilyn Monroe singing Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend. An amazing voice and amazing talent. Watch her sing live on You Tube, you'll be amazed at the pureness and talent of her god-given vocal gifts!

Kgreen, I don't know if Linda mentions these guys by name "The Wrecking Crew" in her book, but there's movie documentry that came out in March 2015! There's a You Tube link to the trailer where you can watch the documentary for 4 bucks on Y.T. These were the rock band version of Marni Nixon. Glen Campbell was even a member. Here's an interview where the guy on the right is the one that came up with the harpsichord arrangement for "Different Drum" and he talks about Linda, Jimmy Bond, and her book about 12:30 (Linda included that pic. in her bio). The sound quality isn't that good, so turn it up.

It seems incongruous for her voice to be coming out of someone else's mouth. Not a great job of lipsyncing in that clip, but the voice is superb!

This is The Man I Love by George and Ira Gershwin. Sounds like Linda Ronstadt singing. We have covered this before here on the Forum. Lucas had a ready chanteuse in Linda with their..er..relationship. Of course Skywalker Studios as well. But the track sounds like a Riddle song of Linda's.
