This is something I have been wondering about for some time: how many people on this list has had a paranormal experience of some kind? Whether it was seeing a ghost or hearing a disembodied voice, experienced psychic phenomena - whether it involved something about you personally or maybe about a celebrity, astral projection and lucid dreaming (know we have touched this in another thread), near death experience, after life contact, deja vu, dreams about people and places which don't relate to your current life, remote viewing, thinking you are in a parallel world, mediumistic abilities. What kind of experience have you had? The reason I ask is I've always had some kind of paranormal experience, but it's an off and on experience, and only happens sporadically. I wouldn't mind if it happened more frequently because I've always been interested in the paranormal. And none of the books I have read on the subject provide any good information for strengthening whatever skills I possess. I'm not counting UFOs as being paranormal activity, or Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster, even though Bigfoot and Nessie may be part of the paranormal. UFOs exist and they don't belong to the paranormal because they are from other worlds. As to what I've experienced, here's one of the more memorable ones: My parents owned a two story house in which we lived, which was bought in 1967 and this happened a little over a year later. There was an outside stairway that led up to the second floor which wasn't in great shape, as well as stairs inside the house. We were always hearing noises upstairs like someone was walking. My brother would take the outside stairs and I would go up the inside stairs, and we figured we'd run into someone. Never did, until one day these two out of place looking Indians came down the inside stairs. To say we were startled is putting it mildly. They made their apologies, saying they were looking for some friends of theirs and thought they had the right address. They left, and my brother and I waited a couple of seconds and went outside to see where they went. They were nowhere to be seen. We stayed outside for a short time, waiting to see if they came back or where they were hiding. They never reappeared. Ghosts from another time? A parallel world? We never found out. I still believe our house was haunted and that the Indians meant no harm, probably keeping an eye on the place and making their presence known to people who shouldn't have been there. My interest in the paranormal was borne of things like this. And it still intrigues me and I still look for answers. One thing which I believe is a help is to keep an open mind to the possibility of paranormal activity. It won't happen if you have a closed mind. Of the things I mentioned above, think I've experienced everything but the near death experience and being able to contact the dead. I'm open to the possibility but onl;y friendly spirits!

When you say Indians do you mean Pocahontas or Deepak Chopra?
I was raised in a haunted house also. I am from a family of very psychic people raised in an area where strange government experimentation was happening. I guess you are not aware that UFO experiences and paranormal experiences can go hand in hand? Not all UFOs are from other worlds. My own first home was haunted in Arizona. When the realtor showed me the house as I walked in the bedroom I couldn't breathe and felt like I was drowning. I asked the realtor if someone had died in the house and he looked startled and said YES. Turns out I was feeling her pain (much like Bill Clinton). She died of lung cancer and pneumonia so that is what I experienced. She (Carol) took up residence in the dryer that was left behind. It had the loudest buzzer and would go off even when not in use as one of my roommates would walk by. Scared the crap out of them. At night I would often go into the kitchen for some water and I could see the front bedroom door opened just a crack and noticed an very white eyeball looking out towards me through the darkness. Turns out it was my new roommate who was scared out of his wits. Weird things were happening to him and he moved out of the house in the middle of the night. A friend gave me a life sized cabbage patch grandma that I used to play tricks on different people. She almost ended up in the governors office as a prank. My friend who knew the governor (Babbit) had me craft a great trick but she chickened out last minute because the Republicans were after him and this was all they needed to get him lol. I have been to psychic healers with incredible results, had an exorcism of sorts, left my body many times to soul travel, had apparitions appear to me, a fast moving car dematerialized and went right through the van full of kids I was driving to the movies and came out the other side, been attacked by entities, hmmm, I know there is more but I would need to think about it. I watch over lots of animals at home and at different locations in the valley. When I realize I haven't seen a particular animal in a while I send them a message to make themselves known so I know they are ok and sure enough the next time they are there waiting for me. I plan on writing a book called Complicated Dreams.

When you say Indians do you mean Pocahontas or Deepak Chopra?
American Indian. Oklahoma has been home to quite a few Indian tribes, including the five Civilized Tribes and tribes like the Apache. Geronimo is buried in Oklahoma at Fort Sill, and a lot of lands in Oklahoma are Indian lands. And a lot of people here are of Indian heritage to some degree and it's a source of pride for most Oklahomans, except for the few white supremacists in various parts of the state. They are a small lot, though, more cry-babies than people with violent tendencies.
I was raised in a haunted house also. I am from a family of very psychic people raised in an area where strange government experimentation was happening. I guess you are not aware that UFO experiences and paranormal experiences can go hand in hand? Not all UFOs are from other worlds.
I know there is a theory that some UFOs are inter-dimensional vehicles traversing between all the parallel realities or that they are time travel ships. And then I've heard about some that are apparently from the inner Earth. Since paranormal is supposed to mean something like hidden, I guess inter-dimensional vehicles and time travel ships fall within the paranormal. Vehicles from an inner world? Seems like we should now have the technology that could scan deep within the Earth for signs of activity. It would be fascinating to find out what's true, what's not.
Curiously, among the first contactee stories of the 1950s, I recall some of the contactees described creatures who resembled Bigfoot in appearance. George Adamski, who by most accounts now is regarded as a fraud, wrote in one of his books on UFOs of people from other worlds traveling through space at light speeds changed from human to monster because of the speed. I thought that was a little far fetched. If a species - human or otherwise - could not withstand traveling at the speed of light or faster, it seems to me they would cease to exist, die from such a speed. A starship designed to travel to other worlds and deep space would have to be designed to protect the beings within it.
Sounds like your ghostly resident was a friendly spirit who just hadn't moved on to wherever it is we go to when we pass. Maybe we don't want to go where we think we're going to? My current house, which I own, I think is haunted with several spirits. It was the final home of my parents, who died almost four months apart in 1995. My late older sister stayed in the house with me at times and I think she is there too. Then there are others I'm not so sure about. Years ago, I had a coworker who was somewhat psychic and who was staying over and was taking a shower when she got a sudden chill someone was in the shower with her. Not a friendly spirit. She was scared and stayed close the rest of the time she was in the house. There had to be something going on as there were times when I'd leave for work in the early hours of the morning. I'd get a creepy feeling and my long hair would stand on end, almost adding a foot to my height. I'd get to my car as fast as possible and lock the doors. I didn't know what I was sensing but I felt it meant harm. Another time, I came out of my house at night to go to the store and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a human-shaped form walking close to the steps. When I say human-shaped form, that's the best description I can think of because all I could see was its outline. It actually had no form and you could see right through it, but you could also see it walking. I think it was the fact I saw it out of the corner of my eye that enabled me to see it, rather than looking at it directly. But, it was unnerving to say the least.
I've never been to psychic healers or to an exorcism, not sure I'd want to witness an exorcism. That's too scary for me. The fast moving car going through your van full of kids reminds me of an Oklahoma family who was chased out of their house in Oklahoma in the late 60s by a violent ghost or entity. When I say chased out, I also mean chased out of the state. Whatever it was scared the family so bad, they packed their car and planned on getting out of the house. Maybe they felt they would just find another house in Oklahoma City but the ghost or entity somehow procured a tractor-trailer 18 wheeler, chased them and followed them all the way into Arkansas before giving up. The family never moved back and I don't know who got the rest of their belongings, but they were in shock for a little bit.
I've done astral travel or soul travel, never to another world to observe what life is like on other worlds, which is what I've always wanted to do. But, I've been to Australia via astral projection although I've never been there physically. And for some reason, I feel like I've been to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, although I don't ever remember visiting those states in the physical, but I feel like if I moved to one of those states, it'd feel like home because it just feels like I've lived there sometime. Maybe a previous life?
I watch over lots of animals at home and at different locations in the valley. When I realize I haven't seen a particular animal in a while I send them a message to make themselves known so I know they are ok and sure enough the next time they are there waiting for me. I plan on writing a book called Complicated Dreams.
Complicated Dreamsis a good title for a book. I believe our dreams are more than we imagine, more than just a late night movie for us while we sleep. I believe some are portals to other dimensions and a method traveling through time, to the future and to the past. I also believe dreams are a conduit for our relatives and others who passed who were important to us.
I've always been an Elvis fan, have known who he was since I was a toddler back in the 50s. My mom said we met him then and we must have because the impression was so strong. When he died in 1977, that was a very sad day for me because I knew he had been increasingly ill and starting to be in the hospital more than he was out of the hospital. I had a feeling two weeks before he died that he was going to die, and I tried to shake that feeling off, thinking it didn't make sense. And then it happened. He died, but what was weird was I had a dream about him the morning of his funeral. I saw him in the dream playing his guitar, playing the prettiest tune I'd ever heard and he seemed to be at peace. It was like, "I'm okay. I'm where I want to be." That dream ended and I got up about an hour later and turned on the tv. There was a local show on and someone was playing a guitar, the same tune I'd heard Elvis playing in my dream. I was curious as to what the title of that tune was since it was such a beautiful work of music. I never found out that title and I heard it only one other time, in 1978 or 1979, being played by Canadian guitarist Leona Boyd on the "Tonight Show". And again, the title wasn't given, and I've searched out melodic guitar playing since then trying to find that same piece of music. It's a melody that still haunts me and poor guitarist I am, one that I can't replicate!

Slide.. I think I remember you telling a story about the Indians. I didn't know that had actually spoke to you..Did they look solid? Normally or in my experience ghosts/spirits/apparitions are somewhat transparent and others I've heard about. My b/f had a similar experience to mine and his ghost was transparent too.. and many times they or the energy is in repeat mode and they don't interact.. I have to read the entire thread because ghosts interest me. I have to go pick up my niece from her job..so will read later. I read this book by psychic medium Kim Russo. the book is called the happy medium .. and she makes a lot of sense to what these energies are and what they want from us.

I have mentioned the story about the Indians before, and yes, they were solid. Depending on the ghostly energies, I think some can appear to be quite solid. I believe if they died before it was their time to die, I think they could still have a lot of their physical energies. The thing about the Indians that were in the house was that they were out of place. They were well dressed, but even the clothes they wore did not look like the standards of 1968. More like 1910s-20s. They were also very polite, which given the circumstance of constantly hearing noises upstairs and never finding anyone upstairs until that one day, one would think that my mom, my sisters and brother and myself would've been very nervous and scared. I remember being concerned but not nervous or scared, and they apologized, saying they had just gotten the wrong address. But again, when they left the house, we gave them a few seconds and then went out to see which way they went. They were nowhere to be seen and they couldn't have gotten out of our sight that fast. The city block our two story house was on was the longest block in the city, almost three times as long as the other city blocks. Thinking about this ghost story, something else just came to mind about it which I hadn't realized until just now. And that was that the upstair noises came to a stop after they left the house. Or did it? I always thought the house was haunted during the entire time we lived there. Maybe the ghosts quieted down and were content to coexist peacefully with us? We were no threat to them and despite the fact my mom and older sister were religious, both accepted the idea that ghosts existed. And even my mom was curious about UFOs, although I don't think my dad ever was convinced about the reality of UFOs. Ghosts, yes. And here again, I think having that mindset was conducive in attracting the ghosts to you. Course, I only want to know friendly ghosts and not malevolent ghosts.

interesting story Slide. Did you ever find out who they were? Did you research your home or area as to who lived there or what could have happened? Yes, they were looking for someone or place and obviously did not have closure on it. Maybe they were looking for your assistance. thought you could help. When we die we're still energy and would still be attracted to similar energy as when we're alive .again maybe they wanted your help in something that didn't get resolved or maybe they even died in the process. Maybe they just needed validation or help going into the light.. whoever they were I hope they did.

That's usually when it starts.. but we as adults block those things out as we get older. Some psychic people rather embrace their gifts and continue as adults. I wish I would have done that instead of cut and run the first time I saw my ghost as a kid. I do have a similar experience to yours.. right before we moved from california to oregon.. we visited Brian's brother & wife home in old town orange ca. really cute house/area near chapman college. it was a Christmas Party. I was sitting at the dining table and I felt real nauseous to the point I had to get out of the house for air. we left shortly afterwards.. some time later, we were talking about what happened to me and Brian said that his brother and wife have the same experience. nauseousness to the point of having to leave the house. then it goes away.. well long story short. the house was haunted. moved objects. drawers opening and closing. their 2 dogs would stare and growl at 1 specific area in the room. visitors would come over and just leave. 1 guy literally got up and left after he saw a toy ball move around on the floor on its own.. lol.. they thought it was a child because they also heard little kid voice out of nowhere talking. they've since moved to another home in the area. it got too much for them.

Maybe they just needed validation or help going into the light.. whoever they were I hope they did. We never dig deeper to find out who they might have been. The two story house was built in 1920, so it had been around long enough to have had a history. And actually, the two story house had been made into a duplex before my dad bought it in the 60s, but it went back to being a two story house when my dad bought it and it's remained a two story house ever since. Curiously, another resident would later use part of the house as a church and what was more weird, the guy had come from our original hometown, which was Texarkana. The odds of two families occupying the same house in two different decades coming from the same city (about 350 miles away, I believe) had to be very high. I always wanted to ask those who lived in the house after we did if they experienced anything out of the ordinary, like noises upstairs that when investigated, nothing was there to be found. As for the two ghosts, I've often thought maybe they were guardian angels of sorts, since my family history included three Indian tribes. Or maybe they were previous residents who had a fondness for the house. I couldn't blame them for that because of all of the houses I have lived in, that house was my favorite house that I ever lived in. There were many times I wished my parents had kept the house but my dad was always one to move. And he wasn't even in the military but worked for the post office! We changed houses the way people changed socks. I don't recall any other home except my present one having the sense of being haunted. And my present house goes back to the 20s or 30s but the bad vibes and cold I have sometimes felt makes me think something worse may have happened there. What I do remember about the Indians was that they were not too old, maybe in their late 20s or early 30s. I don't know if they had lived in the city or the county, but both the city and county had some scary tales of buildings and cemeteries being haunted, including an Indian burial ground that was south of town. It was said not to walk in that cemetery at night, if you knew what was good for you. My family's first house when we moved from Texarkana was on the south side of town, about a mile or so from that cemetery. It was there that my mom saw her dad coming through the window after he had died. And it was there that I had my first paranormal experience when I was 5: seeing a creature or maybe a medicine man from that cemetery, while looking out the window while in bed. I screamed, which brought my parents into the room where my brother and I were at. My dad went outside but could find nothing. There was a barn on the property but I don't think he looked in there. Late at night, I wouldn't have searched there either. But, I still believe the Indians we ran into were protectors, guardians, maybe not ready to move into the light - which reminds me of Nirvana. I once read Nirvana is the absorption of one's soul, that one ceases to exist and as such, one could choose not to do that and may not want to do that. One can choose to be a watcher and guardian or choose to reincarnate. My belief is that as spirits, physical life offers opportunities that can't be experienced in the same way as it can in the physical. I think spiritual has much more to offer than physical, but I've always regarded physical life as maybe a recess - a rest and a reward - from the spiritual for a short time. But, in no way have I ever believe we live life because we have lessons to learn and we have to keep learning through repeated reincarnations. 2000 lifetimes and you still haven't gotten it right? How backward are you? That kind of thought process about reincarnation doesn't make sense to me. I believe we reincarnate, not because we have lessons to learn, but because we want to come back.

My childhood house was haunted and I would hear the ghost come down the creaky 3rd floor attic stairs nightly after everyone was in bed and asleep. It then would make a right turn down the hallway and go door to door but didn't go into their rooms. I always knew when it was done with all the rooms and it turned its attention to my room and ME which was the final room straight ahead. I knew because the blinds on my windows would begin to rattle and the dressers would shake and I could feel a strange sensation in my head. I often forgot to slide the bolt on my bedroom door and so often had to jump out of bed, run to the door to lock it and run back to bed and cover my face with my pillow. Never did any good though because it would walk right through the solid wood door over to my bed, grab me, hold me down and just violently shake me until I passed out. My brother slept on the top bunk and NEVER heard anything. A few times I would kick up on his mattress to try to wake him to no avail. And then the next thing I remembered was the sun coming through the crack in my side window blinds, into my eyes waking me up.
The funny thing is many times I would hear a sound that was just like that of a UFO and it preceded the same type of experience with just some variation. Often I would get up the courage to open my bedroom window and look up but never saw anything. A few years after my father died my mother revealed to me that my father would often wake her up in the middle of the night (quite frantic) after spotting some strange men in the back yard down through their upstairs bedroom window. They were dressed in dark suits, hats and seemed to be looking for something with flashlights. During that same time period I used to walk home for lunch from school and cut through my neighbors yard (corner house) and almost always came up behind a dark sedan parked on the wrong side of the street facing my house. The man inside always had his head down or behind a newspaper and was wearing dark glasses so I could never actually see his face. He always seemed to be watching through the rear view mirror for me so that's when I would notice the sunglasses. When I got home I would ask my mother who that man was in the suit and hat that was always parked there facing our house. She said to show her so I led her to the door of the porch facing the street and the man and car were always gone. I tried many times to see his face but he always managed to hide it. There were always reports in the papers about UFO's spotted over the area and then there were the creepy stories about Brookhaven National Laboratory which was in my township. My neighbor worked there as the head nurse but she was very aloof and not easy to talk with so I never asked her anything. I was just a kid and hadn't yet put two plus two together yet. Just one of many strange events in my childhood.
Some time I will have to tell you about the singing roof nails in my attic. By the way Amityville was not too far away. It too has a reputation but then again so do most of the villages on the island.

oh wow Long Island.. yes, was always fascinated by the Amityville family. Did you ever go to the house? I have friends in L.I. and they won't even drive by the house.lol. I wonder if the man you saw in the sedan was your personal guardian. protecting you against the entity in your house. The house I grew up in. there was a back field that ran the width of our tract, which had power lines spaced out the width of it, and 1 sat directly in back of our house. It makes sense now as to why there was so much activity, with the energy supply, our house was like a drive thru for ghosts! lol. I saw a young boy dressed from the 30's or 40's, heard a witch cackle, a younger voice calling my name . My mother saw the most.. it was so bizarre, I didn't even believe her. My one brother also had an experience, they both at different times had out of body experiences to the covered wagon days.. and the way it was described was not a dream..
