While we are remembering Mohammed Ali lets not forget another "greatest" who just passed. While not as well known as Ali, Gordie was to hockey what Ali was to boxing: The best to play the game (sorry Wayne). While some may argue the preceding point, none can deny he was the toughest, having played into his 50's. Gordie Howe, Redwing, right winger extraordinaire, holder of records to this day and a personal hero of mine, dead today at 88. RIP
(Just to be clear, a right winger is a offensive position in hockey, not an offensive person in politics.)

I heard about his passing. Damn, he had a long life, and a long career in a sport that isn't exactly known for subtlety. It's amazing to think that when he retired from the NHL in 1980, he was already 52.

I haven't really followed hockey for some time, but I recall his greatness, and never heard a bad word about him. Class all the way..
