Alan Young was one of those rare actors who never moaned about how their career was ruined by starring in a tv series, especially one in which he was second banana to a talking horse! He still worked after the series was over and remained friends with the actress who played his wife on the series, Connie Hines, to the end of her life. They even lived close to each other. Young will always hold a special memory because of his role in the 1960 movie adaption of H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine," as the man who believed in his friend's tale even as the man's other friends did not believe it. He conveyed a touch of sadness that his friend had returned to the future to rebuild it, knowing he would never see him again. It was kind of a downbeat and bittersweet way to end the movie as the character was supposed to be happy for his friend. I don't think another actor could've handled it better than Young did. (The only thing I didn't care for were the Morlock beings, especially when their eyes lit up when they were killed. Someone should've killed that bright idea as it looked dumb in an otherwise brilliant movie.)

I loved the Time Machine, my favorite sci-fi movie, although granted makeup and effects have come a long way. RIP Mr. Young 96 years, well done, sir...
