Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but in reading that VIP letter that linda2006nicci posted... was this advertised as her final tour?

I show her in Hyannis, MA on Friday, August 10, 2007 and it was wonderful. That was the last time I saw Linda perform music live. I saw her at her book signing in Brookline, MA on September 19, 2013. Both times mean so much too me. Lauren

Not sure what the letter was all about but I saw Linda in Chandler Arizona a year later doing her Mexican repertoire. She sounded great. A year or two after that she was working as director for the Mariachi Festival in northern California. 2011 seems to come to mind as her last performance but not sure why I think that. If you look at the years past 2008 for concerts and performances I don't have much if anything listed. Good question though. I have a photo in a thread that reads it might be from Linda's last performance but I need to find it and will report back.

FOUND IT! : (I don't know why I have this comment or where it came from under the video. I don't seem to have a reference for it but it seems to me 2011 sticks in my mind for some reason. Maybe someone else will know. Maybe 2011 was her last recording effort? or her official retirement announcement)LINDA RONSTADT - CONCERT 10/25/09 Possibly Linda's Last Concert
Linda Ronstadt sang her last concert in 2009, and shortly thereafter announced her retirement from singing due to her Parkinson's diagnosis. Unlike most retirements, however, Linda's has been quite busy since then receiving a Latin Grammy for Lifetime Achievement from NARAS President Neil Portnow, writing her previously mentioned memoir which included an extensive national book tour, and being elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in December of 2013. The ceremony was held on April 10, 2014 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and featured an induction speech by Eagles founding member (and ex-Ronstadt band mate) Glenn Frey, as well as a musical tribute to Linda featuring Emmylou Harris (one of her "favorite singing partners"), Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, and Carrie Underwood. Just recently, Linda was honored by President Barack Obama, who awarded her the National Medal of Arts at a White House ceremony on July 28, 2014.
I feel truly blessed to have attended this one-night only event and for the sake of her many fans and friends across the country, I hope Ronstadt will continue to share her lifetime of spectacular memories with audiences across the country for many years to come.

I thought the MerleFest concert (was last or near last)that Emmylou was at in 2009 which Linda was put at the end of which usually means the headliner but supposedly people were leaving for the day (not sure of the numbers). As far as 2007, we saw the Mann Center, Philly concert where Bromberg showed up at but I would have loved to see her sing with Webb the song I never heard her do listed above. eddiejinfl

Wow, az, you might have trumped my post and perhaps are correct because the concert I referred to I believe was in August of 2009. I wasn't sure so I said perhaps her last. We all so sharp re: Linda. Thanks, buddy!!!! eddiejinfl
PS: I think she technically didn't retire due to her diagnosis since she did not know for sure even when writing her book in 2012. I think she said she found herself shouting and no longer felt she could give an audience what they deserved. Very noble of her but again maybe SOMEWHAT her self-deprecating self.

I never go to see Linda perform live. I went to her signing event in Boston a few years ago, and will be attending her event in Scottsdale in April, however I can't get over never hearing her perform. She never came to the southern US in her later years of touring, so I didn't have much of a chance. I remember she played Kansas City in 2009 on that last tour with the Mariachis and I almost went. I've never been interested in the Mariachi music, and wasn't too excited about the prospect of the all-Mexican show. I thought surely she'd get back to doing the half-standards/half-hits show she had been doing for over a decade... but, it never happened.

Yes, I believe she mentions that her last official concert was on October 25, 2009, in the shadow of The Alamo down in San Antonio.

I believe The Chieftains with Ry Cooder album where she did a great song was a 2011 release otherwise it was 2010. So she still had recordings in this decade. A very long important career. eddiejinfl

It would be nice to find a concert schedule for that year and the other missing years as well as setlists if possible.

2010 I believe but so was All I Know.
Definitely the last two she recorded that I know of. I think there may have been a third but can't recall at the moment.

Sorry, I didn't mention "All I Know" because I knew it came out before The Chieftains song. I think 2011 was her backing vocal for a Bromberg song. I think that the last released recording of her voice. eddiejinfl

This was released on his Use Me album July 12, 2011. Not sure when it was recorded though.
I could have sworn there is one other Linda did but with another female singer.

Are you thinking of LAURIE LEWIS - SKIPPIN' AND FLYIN' (2011 - Spruce and Maple Records) - What's Good For You
- Dreams
Both songs feature Linda Ronstadt

Plus there was Linda Ronstadt and Laurie Lewis’ "Pretty Bird” released on the Duets CD. This song was originally intended for a Hazel Dickens tribute album that was never released.

I have to look for the Laurie Lewis songs on youtube. I am not sure I have ever heard them. There is stuff even to this day and as ardent a fan I am that I still haven't heard. Incredible. The duets album was what 2012? I never thought of "Pretty Bird as a later recording; I thought just not released but technically I guess it is considered new music. Does anybody know when "Pretty Bird" was recorded? Just like I didn't count all the unreleased stuff on the Complete Trio album. I was focusing on her last newly recorded songs. The 2 Laurie Lewis songs above seem to qualify if it was a new album of hers released in 2011. eddiejinfl

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but in reading that VIP letter that linda2006nicci posted... was this advertised as her final tour? I'm sure it was just speculation since she had been slowing down for the last 10 years and her major releases were becoming less major in the music world. This does raise the question: when did she decide to retire? I know she's said it was during that final concert where everything flashed before her eyes, but was she considering retiring before that? Had she planned on Adieu False Heart being her last album (ignoring the 2012 country album attempt) or the supporting tour to be her last one?
