Pretty much like every other kid back in The Day, I practically gorged on the original trilogy. And then, having gone back and visited these films again on DVD, the thing that struck me the most was how shockingly little patience I have for those films now that I'm in my early 40s. The special effects and John Williams' music hold up incredibly well even now, but the plots...well, not as well as I remembered.

I still think how different Linda's career would have been if she'd got the acting bug. With the offer to play Sandy in Grease handed to her and dating George Lucas (she could have played Princess Leia) she could have been in two of the major grossing films of all time!

Don't forget the Yvonne Elliman part in JCS. All classic parts. Too bad she didn't have that self-confidence needed.

With the offer to play Sandy in Grease handed to her and dating George Lucas (she could have played Princess Leia) she could have been in two of the major grossing films of all time! Funny, but I don't think "Grease" would've been the word if the movie had starred Linda instead of Olivia Newton-John. That's because I think the two original songs sung mainly by Olivia that were in the movie helped sell the movie version. Had it just been the songs from the play plus the few lame knockoff versions of original hits from the 1950s and 60s, I don't think "Grease" the movie or the soundtrack would've been as big. I've got to admit though, I would've loved to have seen Linda in the leather outfit Olvia wore at the end of the movie. I would love to have seen Linda have a movie career to have gone along with her music career, but that was something most rock artists seemed no longer interested in having, including her. Most pointed to the kind of movies Elvis made as justification but really, if you thought Elvis's movies were bad, you obviously never saw any of the movies other pop, rock and country stars made. Or maybe you saw a few of them. None seem to have had as much thought put into them as what Elvis's movies had and many could've given "Plan 9 from Outer Space" a run for its money as the worst movie ever made. I truly think Linda was different from many of her peers and probably wouldn't have taken on any movies that would've been embarrassing to her or her career.
