I will add more years and if anyone has more to add to that year have at it. Personal reviews, set lists, your own photos from that year, clippings or scrapbook articles.... anything is appreciated.
Remembering the 1982 rally against nuclear arms Bryan Farrell June 12, 2009 1982nycprotest
Today marks the 27th anniversary of the largest protest in NYC history. Upwards of one million people gathered on the Great Lawn in Central Park to rally against nuclear weapons while the UN held a Special Session on Disarmament. Two days later 1,600 demonstrators were involved in acts of civil disobedience at the consulates of five countries.
The Nation ran an editorial two weeks later heaping significant praise on the days’ events:
It was a good refresher course in the power of civil disobedience–deliberate, nonviolent violations of valid laws through which protesters invite punishment or injury to themselves in order to call attention to matters of overriding moral urgency. As carried out by the antinuclear protesters last week, the action was lawbreaking in the spirit of fidelity to law.
The following video does a good job of recapping the protest and the events that led up to it.
The March for Disarmament
On June 12, 1982, the No Nukes rally that began at the United Nations ended on the Great Lawn where performers such as Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, and Linda Ronstadt sang to a crowd estimated at hundreds of thousands.
Lots of music videos this year:

Linda toured with The Bus Boys from September as her opening act. During her first show in Nevada cigarette smoke drifted in from other parts of the venue and Linda requested a no smoking policy while she was there. There was a concert scheduled for Sep 29th in Denver Colorado that was cancelled due to poor management that resulted in low ticket sales (only 3000 reported sold) The Oct 4th show was a free concert for students to encourage them to vote, Margot Kidder also appeared. The Radio City Music Hall dates sold out 3 of the 6 shows. She was reported to have played 14 shows at Universal Ampitheatre.

PEACE SUNDAY: THE JOURNEYPublished on Jul 24, 2012 "Peace Sunday, The Journey", documents the evolution of an event that first took place in 1982 out of a mass movement called "The Nuclear Freeze" which was born during the height of the Cold War as the United States and the Soviet Union engaged in the nuclear arms race. Peace Sunday was produced by a coalition of peace/justice and Interfaith groups and was staged at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, and attended by nearly 100,000 who heard performances from Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Joan Baez, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne among others, and notable speakers such as Mohammed Ali, Rev. Jessie Jackson. Dolores Huerta and others. The Unity and Diversity World Council, a Los Angeles Interfaith and peace non-profit organization, has picked up the ball and has produced annual Peace Sunday events in different locations throughout the LA area for the past thirteen years. This year the event has been expanded to Peace Sunday/ Peace Fest 2012, a three day festival including exhibit booths and an innovative peace education process called a "Convergence". Peace Sunday / Peace Fest 2012 is taking place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 21-23, at the IMAN Cultural Center, 3376 Motor Ave., Palms, Los Angeles, 90034. I'm a big Joe Ely fan and Joe opened those 10 shows for Linda at The Universal Ampitheatre in LA in 1982 and the Greek Theatre Berkeley 9/24/82. I donated my Linda Ronstadt/Joe Ely Greek Theater poster to Joe Ely for his archives project. I still have a picture of that poster from 1982 if you are interested in posting. My email is graye101@msn.com. Thanks - Ed

The photo was shot at The Cotton Club at the close of the Monterey High School senior graduation dance. The band playing was The Maines Brothers and Joe Ely, Linda Ronstadt, Terry Allen, Jesse Taylor and more dropped in and jumped on stage and tore it up... Ed

Anyone know if any of these shows are available to listen to online (or if anyone has a copy that they'd be willing to share ). Anyone have any ideas?

My brother drove up to the Central Park rally with a couple buddies. I am not sure, since I was aware should would be there from what I remember, why I didn't go. I might have had to work or school stuff (I worked my way through college). I remember being kind of jealous afterward but liked that my bro said nice things about Linda. He never seemed to really like her while we were growing up (I would catch him play "Someone to Lay Down Beside Me"). Years later during one of the million times he lived/stayed with me, he really liked "Anyone Had a Heart". eddiejinnj

I attended the "No Nukes" concert in Central Park and distinctly remember Linda in her denim jacket. It was a great event for an important cause, but unsure how much was accomplished in the long run. May we find comfort in chaos...

Welcome, DJB to the forum. Wish I would have made trip but like I said before I think I was working that day. I know I didn't have school as it was at the end of my first year and we get out of college in May. eddiejinnj

thanks for posting the set list of peace sunday, 1982 at the rose bowl, i was there and i ''thought'' i remembered it well! i have no memory of having ever seen bob dylan or stevie wonder. wow, i saw bob dylan and stevie wonder, and on that day. i was a teenager, and i thought crosby stills and nash seemed like relics from the past- in 1982, and maybe they were....
-i do recall, for me, the whole event was about stevie nicks and linda ronstadt, i remember their sets, and how awesome stevie sounded singing harmony on 'give peace a chance' on the closer.
bette midler was funny- she walked out, noticed the huge crowd at the rose bowl and said ''wow- i thought i was going to the swap meet!"
