Actually, it is one more mention of her Lifetime Achievement Grammy.

Can anyone please confirm that Linda will be honoured alongside others during the Grammy ceremony? I note Bonnie Raitt will be playing alongside others a tribute to BB King and Jackson Browne with the remaining Eagles in a tribute to Glenn Frey. Fantastic!

From what I've heard, I think the honorees for the Lifetime Achievement Grammys, including Linda, will be noted at tonight's ceremonies, but that a special ceremony for them will be put on sometime in March. Hopefully, that will be televised as well--which, of course, would lead us to another all-important question: Who's going to honor Linda?

Good question, Erik.
Can I just say that k.d. lang should really be pulled on stage to honor Linda? Few can equal her when it comes to tone and power. She can belt.
Plus, there's already a history between them. And k.d. has said what in influence Linda was on her as a singer, telling the story of how she and friends used to drive around listening to one Linda album in particular — which album now escapes me. Probably Heart Like a Wheel.

I wouldn't have any problem with k.d. being on there if she wanted to do it. Beyond that, I think Trisha Yearwood (a.k.a, the one I won't call Mrs. Garth Brooks [LOL]) would be my first choice, along with Emmylou (natch!), Bonnie Raitt, and who knows who else.

Yes, that's an unfortunate oversight. But I hope he's invited for paying tribute to Linda later in the spring, along with a whole host of others.

The Eagles tribute and the 5 seconds of Linda were the best parts of the show.

loved the tribute to BB King too. And Alabama Shakes. Have to confess it's been a while since I've tuned in to The Grammys.

Especially given that Linda has professed her admiration for Alabama Shakes lead singer Brittany Howard (they too walked off with a couple of awards).

When in the Grammy program was Linda's 5 seconds? I saw Bonnie's 5 seconds for Ruth Brown and the B.B. King Tribute. Also the Bowie Tribute. I also managed to catch the Eagles (who was the bald guitarist? - seemed Leadon wasn't in many camera angles, focusing mostly on Browne and Henley/Walsh/Schmit). Shouldn't have tried to watch a hockey game at the same time.

It was towards the end of the program. They announced all the winners, including Linda's 5 seconds of fame singing "Get Closer" in the red polka dot dress.

Maybe you're joking about Bernie being bald but he was definitely there playing that signature solo. Linda was shown at the very end w/ EWF, Airplane etc.

The bald guitarist on the left was a hired gun I think (but I could be wrong). Perhaps Joe Walsh doesn't have the licks anymore. I was positive I knew who Henley, Walsh, Schmit, and Jackson were.

Actually, that was indeed Bernie with the Chrome Dome and the signature Telecaster solo; the other guitarist there on the other side of the stage was, I believe, Steuart Smith.

LLLONG Overdue. Does anyone know when or where the concert honoring Linda and the other Life Achievement winners will be held?. Last you stated it will be in the Spring? Would be nice to see all her recent honors(Lifetime, Library of Congress, National Medal of Arts) gathered on the homepage for easy reference(even if Linda doesn't much care). Thank you for gathering all those older articles and recent ones. Nice Job since she doesn't have a formal web presence.

That's the operative question, isn't it? That's something that everybody here wants to know. All we've gotten is that it will be in the spring, nothing else...for the time being, anyway.

An interesting view on The Grammys. I'm afraid I don't agree with his inference that Natalie Cole's influence is greater than Bowie's and Frey's but note the point of the appropriate acknowledgement or lack thereof regarding LR and other Life Timers. I'm hoping there will be a ceremony. wnpr.org/post/still-underachieving-grammy-awards#stream/0

I agree. But the notion that they could have bought Linda onto the stage is wistfully unrealistic, because she most likely wasn't even there that night. In fact, unless you count her appearance at the 2011 Latin Grammys, which were held in Las Vegas, she hasn't been to any Grammy Awards celebration since she and Aaron Neville won for "Don't Know Much in February 1990.

I had wished given the Eagles, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt were playing that there was some tribute. hopefully the Spring event will produce a fulsome honour.

The Recording Academy® will honor its 2016 Special Merit Awards recipients with an awards ceremony and live tribute concert on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Dubbed "GRAMMY Salute to Music Legends," the event will be produced in partnership with THIRTEEN as part of the "Great Performances" series on PBS, set to air later this year.
