I don't think this review has been posted here before. I realize I could just clip the "Ronstadt" piece but I thought a reminiscence about the others acts of the day might be in order:

It's also in the Scrapbook Clippings section (1966-1970)

Thanks. I guess I won't need to go searching for the correct place to stick it.

I would like to know what kind of sound system is "below par" for country music to the extent that it works for Goose Creek but fails Linda ? Also is a "canyon of sound" the bastard cousin of Phil Spector's "wall of sound?

Evidently somebody had too much time on his hands back in May 1970; it has all the hallmarks of a wanna-be critic who writes fancy phrases that make precious little sense (IMHO).

For something that is headlined as a Linda Ronstadt concert review, he really tells us nothing about her concert other than it was pure country (apparently not to his liking).
I recall the opening act when I was in college-- I think they were called Goose Creek Symphony. I always thought they were named after Goose Creek which is a small town just outside of Charleston, SC, but apparently I am wrong, because they have been inducted (as was Linda Ronstadt) in the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame.

And if I remember right, one of that band's members was Ed Black. He almost went on a tour with Gram Parsons in early 1973 as the steel guitar player in GP's Fallen Angels, but he backed out, perhaps spooked by Gram's drug-addled behavior, and went with Linda instead.
