There is an exhibition in LA that I read about on another forum of photos of album promotion billboards on Sunset Strip. There is no mention of Linda and I seem to recall mention of a Living In The USA billboard being up there, anyone know if there were more of Linda's albums promoted this way??? Surely there must have been .... www.skirball.org/exhibitions/rock-billboards

I am a native Angeleno and attended college at the University of Southern California from Septemer 1975 to June 1979. I'm quite sure they were there. The most vivid are of Prisoner in Disguise, Hasten Down the Wind, Simple Dreams and Living in the U.S.A. I also remember the Tower Records on Sunset giving the most prominent billboard display space to Cry Like a Rainstorm. I wasn't a shutterbug so don't have photos.

I could be mistaken, but the first of Linda's albums to be promoted with a billboard on the Sunset Strip was Silk Purse in 1970.

I have this coffee table book called Rock ‘N’ Roll Billboards of The Sunset Strip by author photographer Robert Landau which covers all the original billboards including Linda’s which I can highly recommend.
