Thought I'd share my excitement. Since Linda didn't touch down anywhere near Chicago for her book signing appearances, I did not have the opportunity to get my copy of Simple Dreams autographed. Using the excuse that my birthday is next week, I decided that I, a rabid fan since 1973, deserved to have a signed copy of that book. After researching prices on ebay, where signed copies are going from $200-$300, I found one on Amazon mint condition, never read, signed by Linda for the publisher, not at an appearance. It set me back $150, but to me it's worth it. It should arrive next week. BTW, there are many copies of the book on ebay for $75, but they are not signatures on the actual title page of the book, but signed book plates added to the book. Hooray for me! Here's what my signature looks like: Attachments:

Enjoy your birthday gift to yourself! Sorry you had to pay "big bucks" for an autographed copy, but I'm glad you found it on Amazon.

Congratulations, I'm jealous! Maybe some day Linda will visit Chicago or even if by some devine interventions (we are big on religion here in hoosierland as you may have heard) Indy. If she gets anywhere near I'm going! Again congratulations-hope you get a second one in person.

Well call me moneypants! I bought up several unsold copies during her tour and until now had no idea of their worth. Good to know. Happy Birthday to me. And Richard.

Thanks everyone for justifying my expenditure! I was surprised, too, Moneypants, to see how much the book-signed (as opposed to book-plate signed) copies were going for. I considered myself lucky to find one for $150, especially after seeing them on ebay for $300! I like autographed books, and have a few: Gore Vidal, Ruth Gordon, Richard Matheson, Clive Barker, and it bugged me that the one autograph I didn't have was Linda's, on anything. I now have an immense feeling of self-satisfaction! Also on ebay was a photo of the Trio, with Linda sitting in front of a control board with Emmlou and Dolly behind her. All three signed the photo. It is listed for $93. I was tempted, but really wanted the book. For anyone interested, there are 2 days left to buy it, although as of this post there are no bids.

Actually, Eddie, you should do it! That would be an awesome collectible. Just promise to leave it to me in your will.

I'm surprised Fab/Sean hasn't snapped this up. It would only be 62 pounds and would look so good framed on the wall of his new abode...

Got the book today. Very happy, with one caveat: it's the 3rd printing, not a 1st (I have the 1st printing unsigned). I would guess that's why the others listed on eBay were $200-$300, they were 1st printings.
Oh, well. I have her autograph. That's what counts.

I found (and bought) a new, signed, 1st edition of the book. It's kinda ridiculous, I know, but as a fan and a book nerd, I just had to do it.
At any rate, I'm thinking about offering the other signed book to someone here at a reduced price. If I decide to do that, I'll create a post in the Collectibles section of the forum.

Good for you! I think that is a honest price for that purchase!
I was to get her autograph at the National Book Festival in 2013 but she had to cut it short because she as not feeling well. So that was my only chance to get her signature as well as meet her. But I did get a glimpse of her looking at me when she was looking out at the crowd. And that was a thrill!

Bought a pre-owned autographed 1st hardcover for $50 recently. Sadly thr stockist put a bar code label on the cover spine, but it has Linda's signature, though looks like it was written painfully. But its a keeper for my remaining years.

I'm lucky enough to have several autographed items from Linda that I got in person over the years, including a personalized message in "Simple Dreams." They're all in a special place in my heart and my shelf...
