This, I think, is what happens when reporters "embed" themselves as they did in Iraq. They tell people they saw things happen that they really didn't see happen.
It would behoove Brian Williams not to fall into this trap again (IMHO).

New Soldiers' Accounts of Brian Williams' Incident Seem to Contradict Each Other Maybe I am too lenient, but I actually can see how something like this can happen. I don't know Brian Williams, but I do not think he did this maliciously. When I saw Linda speak in Santa Monica, she talked about how difficult it was to remember things for her book. And she said that her brother told her, "Never trust an eyewitness." People's memories are not reliable.

True. The same, though, would not (nor should never) be said about any Fox News reporter if ever they get caught up like this. They know how to lie like hell.

Not to mention their former 'heroes' George W and Cheney who told MANY lies about Iraq...

Dan Rather got the boot not because he lied about W Bush and his AWOL days, over a year missing but because 2 of the sources (out of a half dozen) weren't fully vetted CBS let him go. Yet you can go to FOX and hear their anchors LIE, MISLEAD AND OMIT every day and they are still there. The right wing noise machine is all over this one which goes to show how hypocritical they are.

I thought Brian Williams did an excellent job covering the moon landing in 1969.
