Hello --
I love Linda Ronstadt and I have for many, many, many years. This Forum has provided a place for me to be in touch with others who also love Linda and care about her and her music. As we learn some of how Parkinson's is affecting Linda's life, it is comforting to be here in the Forum to share thoughts about her and what she means to each of us.
As for what happened in the thread about Barbra Streisand's "Partners," it is no secret that over the past months when someone would say something that I considered to be critical, I asked that people be respectful. Erik asked that people be more respectful. It didn't seem to sit well with some people on here.
Here's the bottom line: This is the Internet. It is, in many ways, still like the Wild Wild West. There is no filter really on what people say. People are free to say as they wish. I needed to change my perception and my expectations. Just as I don't share some people's fondness for certain artists, others might not share the same fondness for artists that I like. I think what hurt me is that I did not ever purposely try to go out of my way to disrespect someone for liking a particular artist. I just let it be. And as I also said, some people on here like, say, Elvis Presley. I don't have strong feelings either way, however, when I learned something about a release of previously unreleased material, I posted because I knew certain folks on here were Elvis fans. I didn't color it with my opinion. But that's me.
Again, I can't expect that of other people. I can only control myself.
So I hope people will understand that I apologize for any harsh words I wrote. They were not directed at most people here. I will work on being more thick-skinned.
Thank you.
Rick
