"Sad" is indeed the word. To be afflicted with degenerative diseases like this is....well, there are no words for it (IMHO).

This sounds like it could be what happened to Casey Kasem and his family, and the same thing is being repeated: family at odds over how to deal with a loved one in declining health and facing a death that may be closer than anyone suspects. I just hope this doesn't happen with Linda down the road, although in her case, with only a couple of kids and no spouse lurking in the background that we don't know about, her kids should be on the same page as what they'll need to do when that day comes. I still hope that day could be in the far off future but I worry it could be closer than we know. As for Glen, God bless him and his family. That's a tough situation for any family to be in, and I don't envy the hard choices Glen's wife had to make in his behalf.

One hopes it never gets to the point for Linda vis-à-vis her children when she can no longer function as a human being. And this is one of the most terrible things, the fact that these degenerative nerve diseases still have no known cures, and those who suffer them are basically dying such agonizingly slow deaths.
