Things have happened so suddenly that it's easy to overlook the big picture.
Speaking only for myself, I never thought I'd see such a groundswell of positive recognition for Linda. I mean, in the past few months there's been:
1) Her induction into the RRHoF
2) Her bestselling memoir
3) The Library of Congress' preservation of Heart Like a Wheel
4) A "new" album of duets that is selling very respectfully in pre-orders
4) Numerous accolades, interviews and articles
I know that sometimes we can carp about the small stuff, but I just thought it would be nice to recognize all the good things that have happened.
Of course, there's the Parkinson's, but I don't want to go into that here. Enough that Linda's getting all of this while she's still alive. And while she may shy away from a lot of the attention, no one can be immune to all of that posititve energy.
Way to go, Linda!

I just know it's such a huge amount that we've been able to talk about over the last eight months. I've been on these Linda Ronstadt forums since November 2000 (just about thirteen and a half years now), and I haven't seen it this active for such a prolonged period for any reason, not even for the Dust-Up In The Desert.
I think next week, with the Duets release and the induction ceremony, we will have even more to talk about.

I think next week, with the Duets release and the induction ceremony, we will have even more to talk about. The media has been great to Linda. Focusing on her music, influence, knowledge and ability. Her friends have spoken of her talent and greatness where her own modesty won't let her. Much mention of her pin-up status heyday without any of the snide weight remarks. These sit down interviews have allowed her to tell her own story in detail without a lot of gotcha questions. It has been a helluva lesson in major, high end Marketing. Right now she is walking on water. If this duets record can manage say Gold Status, then watch out.....they will find the archive material. Shoot, she gas 5 more duets records she could put out. Here's hoping she takes advantage of all this wonderful publicity to kick start her sales and 2nd career!
