Yes, it is, and, in my opinion, the live version blows the album version to pieces. Completely different arrangement. I never got the album version or why some thought it so great. When Linda and the backup singers belt it out, it raises the hair on your neck.

I am sorry. My comment was misleading. I am asking on the track 05 (All That You Dream (From Sessions For Feats Don't ...) (Single Version) - Little Feat (With Linda Ronstadt)). The track 21 seems the live version from Little Feat "Hoy-Hoy!" album, which is also on the Linda Ronstadt Box Set.

I bought the Hoy Hoy album just for Linda's contribution, which I consider worth while..

The single version of "All That You Dream" was released as a 45 in 1976, and was included on one of the WB "Loss Leader" $2.00 collections, advertised on Warner's inner sleeves that you had to send away for. The single never hit the charts, but it's not particularly rare - promotional copies of it turn up on E-Bay for a couple of bucks on a regular basis. It should be noted that the single does not mention Ronstadt on it, and I never knew that she was involved (she's not that prominent in the background vocals). Still, nice to have a clean version on the collection..

well the album version and the live version are both great. the only thing and there is nothing wrong with it imo but some may say that the live version with its synthezier might date it but it is a kick butt song. eddiejinnj

I think her version of this on USA album is awful. Is the Live version much differentl? Oh, yeah. Completely different. And, in my opinion, superior, even if that synth keyboard intro does date it a bit. But it's only the intro. The rest of the song, and Linda, kick ass.

Not sure if I want to ask this but why do you think that the recorded version of ATYD is awful, rumba? Rich, I think the synth makes it almost dance music (different sound for Linda if that possible lol) vs pop/rock in the beginning of live version but she then just kicks butt. Though Linda prefers the artistic process of the studio, in this case, performing with a group she knows so well just gels in the live version. eddiejinnj

Quote by eddieinnj re. synthesizer in "All That You Dream":
This may seem incredible, but I think what we think is the synthesizer break in the middle of the recorded version of "All That You Dream" is actually Dan Dugmore using some kind of device on his pedal steel guitar that makes it sound like a synthesizer. Look at the video here of this song, which Linda did live in Houston in 1978:

I was referring to Billy Payne's synth keyboards in the live version. Dugmore's break in the recorded version has always been identifiable as pedal steel to me, although augmented.
The recorded version always dragged for me, and the drums sound flat, and the instrumental break is weak. I think the live version's faster arrangement gooses Linda's vocals to up-tempo heights she rarely explored. And the background vocals combined with Linda's voice are awesome.
As for the synth in the live version sounding dated, it's kinda like the cow bell or syn-drums -- cool when they first appeared, but now sound like a product of their times.

after all these years, I don't really recall little feat's version. am sure I heard it. I always thought the drums at the end were cool. eddiejinnj

I think it showcases the strength and depth of her voice. It may be ahead of its time.

Dan Dugmore is using a device called an "E-Bow". It is a magnetic device that emulates a bowed instrument (such as a cello or violin).

This one has Linda featured more prominently. If you look at the details she is supposedly with Little Feat. It hasn't gotten many views yet.

Here it is again from the Guest Appearances list on youtube. Seems it was a featured song on HOY HOY, a Little Feat album. Chyna 4 months ago This is without question the single finest recording of this song ever. It glimmers, shines, gleams like the tears of starlight. Brings me to tears every time I hear it. Ratcliffe 1 year ago Thanks for posting this...my Hoy Hoy lp is destroyed Best version ever...Ronstadt backed by Little Feat in their prime! Thanks Reply ·

Sorry for my mistake. I should have watched the video. Dan Dugmore wasn't using the E-Bow on that solo. Rather, it was a small, blue Boss Chorus pedal made by the Roland company. You can see him reach down to turn it off. Dan did, however, utilize the E-bow in some songs of Linda's sets.
