I'm trying to make it last by confining myself to one chapter a day, but today I devoured four chapters!
As someone who is interested in Linda's musical journey, I am loving the book.
She certainly was in the thick of things. That story about her and Keith Richards shouldering a blotto Gram Parsons to bed is quite something.

I'm in the process of going through it myself; and what I found interesting just in the first chapter alone was her talking about the raw nature of growing up in the searing heat of the Arizona desert in summer, and the storms that would come up during the season (on the very day she was born, Tucson was hit by one of those storms--perhaps a sign, you think?).
The other thing I suppose I'm grateful for in reading the memoir is that she really isn't putting down her most popular recordings in it like she has in the recent past. She does lament that performing as often as she did in those godawful-sounding arenas and coliseums, as opposed to the clubs and actual concert venues, dampened her love for rock and roll. She is right, of course; and I can only imagine how it would feel to hear the previous band's guitar solos still echoing through the rafters and off the walls. She just seems much more philosophical and open-minded about those times now.
All in all, I can feel the care and the time she invested in getting her story out there, the good, the bad, and (if Jim Morrison and Jack Nitzsche are any indication) the ugly, in the most honest and truthful way she could.
I plan to post a full review of it in Amazon this coming Friday morning (shameless self-promotion here [LOL]).

Erik why not post it here too?
Didn't we have a thread for Simple Dreams Book Reviews so we could put everything there (or did I dream that?)
I have a really hard time finding threads with this forums search engine. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I finished the book this morning. Very good.. Didn't want to put it down or the story to end. I will say, I thoroughly enjoyed her description of her childhood.. and her temperamental pony!! Man.. I can already see those scenes in a movie.. would be cute and funny!! and wheeling in the old clunker to the junk and.. it's last death call while different drum is playing in the background..... lots of other good stories too.. but I'm sure most everyone has read the first few chapters.

My book arrived last night which I sat down to finally read and must say it is a great read! Granted, I only got to chapter 3 (way past my bedtime--work, you know [curses!]), but it's a fun read. Looking very forward to the rest of the memoir!
(note to self: don't read it all tonight. Need reading material for the airline trip to DC tomorrow...)

I am about 80% through it, and finding it most enjoyable. Linda's quote about Emmylou's singing is especially eloquent. I knew Linda was amazingly knowledgeable about music theory, but her dissection of singer's influences still amazed me....
