Well, it did weigh ten tons and hit Russia at 7 miles per second in its breakbasket. If that isn't a DEEP IMPACT kind of a warning, I don't know what is.
But that asteroid that's up there is unlikely to hit Earth, though it may put our communications satellites in some peril.
