this is flooring me if in fact true. I should say if it materializes. I hope Linda can do some background work if they need a track or 2. it would be a monumental release that linda should co-produced with boylan and/or george massenburg. eddiejinnj

CMT posted more information here: www.cmt.com/news/1752741/dolly-parton-on-dollywood-and-a-new-trio-reissue/ Parton’s fans may have a dream come true in the near future, too, with the possible release of unreleased recordings she made with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. The threesome teamed up for Trio, a Grammy-winning album released in 1987. And despite a second album, 1998’s Trio II. Parton hopes to repackage the sessions with some additional recordings that have never been heard by the public. “We’ve been trying for years to put out the thing that we had in the can and repackage the things that we did,” she said. “Emmylou has been working at this for a long time. We thought it was coming out two to three years ago — actually even before that — but I just got a note from Emmy and Linda saying that they had signed off on it, and so it is gonna happen. I don’t have a date, but it’s supposed to be coming out this year.” For more country music news, tune into CMT Hot 20 Countdown this Saturday and Sunday (April 4-5) at 9 a.m. ET/PT.

Hi everybody, Don't know if some fans remember me here, I was on the previous forum under the same nickname, FrenchFan, I had the privilege to meet Linda in a show in Hutchinson, KS, in April 2007, shit, 5 years !!!! And I met Mark Islam that day, just two days after seeing her onstage in Little Rock. I didn't took time since that to write on that forum I love, I still love listening to Linda. I learned today that there will be a new box set of Trio Recordings. That's great !!! I'm agree with richwar who hopes for more unreleased songs from the first album's sessions. It reminds me of an announce for a best of called THE COMPLETE TRIO RECORDINGS some years ago on the UK's website HMV. And it reminds of me, when I imagined a box set of Linda, Emmylou & Dolly, that was here : ronstadt-linda.com/v-web/bulletin/velco2/viewtopic.php?t=981&highlight=trioSince my "delirium", my "dream", there was the Emmylou's box set with a few unreleased trio's songs.... Has frenchfan been reincarnated?
I was revisiting Trio and it seems to be a timeless sound, old timey yet not really. Not sure how to explain it but it is an enjoyable experience. I think Linda's penchant for perfection has ensured this album's place in musical history and the enjoyment of aficionados for all time. From 1987. What other singer or entertainer can pull off Trio Music, Rock and Roll and Mexican Mariachi/Rancheras from one night to the next?and oh yeah...Song Of The Year

Hi, Everybody:
Picking apart Trio II. Interested in opinions or any bits of knowledge/information I do not have. I think it's a good record...but a bit strange. I don't think it can compare to the first. Actually, I've burned my own "Feels Like Home" just replacing High Sierra, After the Gold Rush, and Lover's Return with the Trio versions. I find the inclusions of Blue Train and Feels Like Home very odd. They're solo showcases--not songs that "shimmer" with the Trio, and Dolly is nowhere to be found. Any knowledge or thoughts? Also, in terms of sequencing, I find it bizarre that High Sierra follows Lover's Return at the beginning of the record without Do I Ever Cross Your Mind to separate them. It makes it sound like a Linda solo album. I know Linda is picky about sequencing, so I find that order strange.

My favorite Trio matchup is Maria in lead with Linda and Wendy on backup. Its Maria's song: Sweet Harmony. If only these 3 did an album together!

I like most of Honky Tonk Angels. I thought they sounded great together, and I love the song selection. I think the missteps were the Kitty and Patsy cameos--and the closer--but I did think the other tracks very very good and very tasteful.

We have discussed this quite a few times such as when "Trio II" first came out and in the intervening years, but "counselorscottie" i know you are new here. I didn't listen to "Trio II" that often especially, for me, because of knowing the songs from Linda's "Feels Like Home" -- the versions of which I prefer. People on here have scolded me that they are exactly the same, but I hear a different mix of "Blue Train" on "Trio II" than on "Feels Like Home," and I prefer the "Feels Like Home" mix. I came to appreciate "Trio II" more when it was released as part of the 3-CD "Trio Collection" (really not "complete" as advertised, but that's a different story for another day). Thanks, scottie.
