Looks like they listed "A Retrospective" as "Beginnings". Very interesting, lol!!! eddiejinfl

Capitol 16133 is the first Stone Poneys album. Not sure where they got “Beginnings.”

I love the cover of the Retrospective LP, almost at the point of buying it for another LP frame on my wall. Such attitude captured :-)

There’s still a piece missing for me. Linda says that Peter made the first call to Nelson. She also says that Peter wasn’t into that type of American music. So how did he think to call Nelson? Maybe Linda and Peter discussed Nelson more than this interview makes clear.

I remember discussions with Harold Wilkinson on this forum regarding the various releases of the first Stone Poneys album. Here is his response re the third release of The Stone Poneys first album:

Oh, "A Retrospective" is listed there. I must have been half asleep. The reissue of the SP first album didn't have "Train and The River"? I remember the sticker said "Early Linda". I don't recall the word beginnings on it. I'll have to check some things out. I never liked the dark sepia tone of "A Retrospective". eddiejinfl

... I never liked the dark sepia tone of "A Retrospective". eddiejinfl I have to agree with you there. I considered it yet another in a chain (see below) of Capitol reissues with ugly covers. Was Retrospective a Kosh design? I would have liked it okay except for the lack of chromatics. Stoney End David Clayton Thomas/ Linda Ronstadt & SP (Pickwick) Different Drum Retrospective

Yes, “Retrospective” was Kosh.

I know some have mentioned that they didn’t care for the album graphics, tint of photos. I’ve always loved the album package and the the set of songs included. This album I still come back to a few times a year. I LOVE the photo/cover from it.

It seemed like she had a dated kind of dress or blouse (off the top of my head like a Lucy era dress) though not necessarily all seen. It just seems to me to make Linda look older than her years at the time but there are a lot of gorgeous photos on the interior. eddiejinnj

The off the shoulder dress is the one from Hasten Down The Wind cover that you see from her back shoulder on back of A Retrospective. The cover photo I feel has such a true Ronstadt vibe to it. Linda did not have perfect skin, but she was perfect with imperfections. REAL. Give me that over airbrush anytime. That cover is beautiful IMO.

Quote by MokiWI::
I've always felt that Linda, by being and looking like who she really is, made it okay and acceptable for her fellow female peers to just be who they really are and not apologize for it. It's just one of the many things that has made her such a big influence (IMHO).
