First thing I want to say is that I can be absolutely, totally wrong about this.
Wow! It's close. The main reason I think it is 1984 is reason #1. 1. Because of Genevieve Schorr's story. So I started looking for reasons that it might be 1984 when it is obviously 1971 or so. 2. The eyes have it. I wish I could see the eyebrow makeup. Linda has always had gorgeous eyes. Her eye makeup accentuated her eyes more by 1982 or so. 3. The black thing on top of her head. It might have been used to cover her real hair. The hair in the picture looks dry. Linda's hair has a nice sheen to it. The top curvature of the hair looks different though this doesn't mean much. The ends of her hair is cut bad. Not very Linda-like. 4. The overalls sure fit good. 5. Bracelets look wrong. Maybe too many of them, idk. 6. The watch. Linda didn't seem to wear them back. Besides I didn't think girl singers can read a watch (¡just kidding! - ¿maybe?). Support for early 1970s 1. Her skin color is darker. 2. It looks like Linda at that timeframe, bracelets and all. 3. Maybe one or two or three girl singers can really read a watch (¡just kidding! - ¿maybe?).

As much as I think you should join the forum Biff is because you are a Linda fan and your input is interesting and appreciated, I don't think that is Linda in 1984. I could be totally wrong as well. I saw her in '84 at the Sands up close and I just don't think that is Linda's 1984 face. eddiejinnj
PS: Moderator knows that Biff McFly was making jokes about women singers and does so at his own risk lol

What does Getty Images say? "LONG BEACH,CA - MARCH 12: Musician Linda Ronstadt attend A Tribute to Neil Simon on March 12, 1978 at New Terrance Theatre in Long Beach, California. (Photo by Ron Galella/Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images)

Just want to clear things up. When I first saw the "1984" picture I thought 1984 was a typo, both 8 and 4 (I was going to add 9 because I have a dry sense of humor). I thought it was 1971 or '72. I only use quotation marks above to give the picture a name which identifies the situation and am not disparaging anyone. When ukfan mentioned Genevieve Schorr's story I was intrigued and revisited the picture. I looked for things that would prove Genevieve Schorr's story. I was looking for the possibility that it could've been taken in 1984. I don't know when the picture was taken. I believe ukfan's comment (don't have a reason not too). He got his information from Genevieve and only Genevieve and Linda know for sure. If it was 1984 it's amazing that Linda (and Genevieve) could pull it off. If it's 1971 or '72, then it's just another picture. Again, idk.
Too all girl singers everywhere I apologize. Drummers are the ones who get the brunt of musician jokes, followed by guitar players. Nobody makes jokes about keyboard players because they are the ones who can read music. I have given 7 girl singers their first break hiring them to sing in my band (two I'm surprised never went anywhere 1 in particular). I also worked with a girl drummer once (one of the top 3 drummers I have worked with). Female musicians have always been great to work with. It was always the male musicians that were the problem, ever time.
I always liked working with girl singers. They have the perfect range for rock music. One time in early 1970 I was living in Orange, TX. I was a bass player then. I ran an ad looking for a girl singer. I got a call from a girl singer wanting to talk to me about being in a band. She was calling from the Beaumont, TX airport. She couldn't talk long because of her flight, but said she would contact me later. She never did contact me though. It was Janis Joplin. That was a near opportunity - a "close call", so to speak.

It seems some are focused on/discussing the sunglasses pics. I do see from the added pics that it is Linda in my opinion. I am referring to overalls silver bangles pic which I do not think is 1984. Does that make me in sync with what's goin on in the thread? eddiejinnj

I definitely think the picture(s) with the plastic spoon and brown sunglasses is definitely 1971, maybe even 1967. The plastic spoon is to cover those pesky extensions. And there's that watch again. (Just kidding).

Eddie--yes, there are two "disputed photo" threads going on here:
1. Is that Linda in the March 12, 1978, Neil Simon tribute/plastic spoon photos? I think it is.
2. Is the Linda photo with the overalls/extensions or wig/watch/silver bracelets from 1984/Boheme period? I say no. The bracelets are the deciding factor for me. I've never seen a photo of her wearing them after 1978 (maybe after 1977). I might be reading too much into it but I've always thought that the bracelets on the dressing room table on the Simple Dreams cover was their farewell official appearance--after that, it was the Living in the USA-period diamond tennis bracelet that turned up most often.

Sho 'nuff is (Victoria Principal). Holly hit it out of the ballpark. Linda wore her hair long and curly during the 1977 tour. The black long curly hair, the spoon and the watch threw me off.
BTW, there is a 1978 Alarmy/United Archives pix of Victoria Principal with the same hair style and black color hair. I never saw VP with black hair only the mahogany colored hair. I thought in the black and white photo Linda sure resembled Victoria Principal. That's one mystery solved.
